Moar as promised. Made a 2 part skid plate for the front in order to clear the ring gear and attach the bottom of the steering bell cranks to:

Then cut something roughly similar in shape out of delrin:

Should be a little easier to drag over rocks. Here are a couple more angles:

Now to build some kind of protection for the diffs.

Whats the wheelbase on that, it looks really long. Are the front and rear just bolted on the top? Seems like there would be alot of forces to yank them out of place.

Been thinking about doing something with a independent suspension build. I have a extra slash 4x4 sitting around.

The wheel base is 16 7/8." Yes, the diffs are bolted to the top of the frame for now. I will tie them into the frame with solid 3/16" rod, just wanted to get the front skid plate figured out since it seemed like the hardest to fabricate.

Last night's basement debauchery resulted in the makening of imaginary parts. First thing to do was replicate then front lower suspension hinge plate out of steel:

Kind of looks like two ghost faces on each end. Anyway, now I have something made of weldable material for this reason:

The rods will be welded to the new hinge plate, then welded to removable tabs on the frame:

Once situated, I'll weld in cross braces to attach another piece of delrin to.

Man I can't wait to see the Scumvee traveling rough terrain. Hey, what ever happened to that wicked 6x6 Bullhead you built? And sorry I could get those cab measurements that you needed to you last year.

Thanks Rickleo. The 6x6 has been taken apart to be made "better." In actuality, it's in pieces in box waiting for me to get back to working on it. I think I'm using the ESC for this turck. Nothing is safe, really.
Don't worry about the cab measurements. From what I could tell, a Bullhead is too far off from being close to a King Hauler. By the way, your TMNT 6x6 is off to a great start.

I saw the beginning of that, too. Looking good. I like the old Chevy trucks of that era. I'm thinking about doing a sixth scale CUCV truck to go with the Scumvee. We'll see what happens...

That would be awesome. Are you painting the Scumvee in military colors or is the color scheme still in planning?

No, I'm going to leave it as a civilian H1. The yellow suits it, and I've seen enough tan and camo ones in my time

I've taken a short break on the Scumvee for now to work on other projects, like a '69 Camaro RS:

The TF 2 has made it onto the operating room during this build as well:
I've also made some changes to the first sixth scaler that sent me into the depths of depravity, but I'll post those in its thread.
Short story long, the Scumvee hasn't gone to the wayside like so many others.
