Default Northern Hooligans GI Joe Jeep(s)

No one to blame but me, but if I could name those who influenced me to take this plunge into 1/6th build it would be Race730 and the countless videos on the Willys jeeps and the " How to do this and that", Mike flea, Zoso, KMS, Bitter End, mud bogger and a few more. I scored one 2002, then another with action figures

My List:
I have a complete SCX10 and Wraith roller(s)Axles: HPI is a problem to get parts in my neck of the woods. I will see how the SCX10 axles work for me then the wraith axles. Also looking at the BoomRacing XRMOD axles (207mm pin to pin).

R2 Transmission
T1 Disruptor 2.18:1
45 or 55 RC4WD motor
Quicrun 1080 ESC
Stock platic frame on one build / try my own on the other
Build my own cage etc.
8274 RC4WD winch
2.2 tires and rims - unkown for now.

As Christmas is almost here, and a few more months of winter, the build will be a while. Please feel free to post up anything new you have done or what just works better. As some of the photos of others past builds have been deleted/lost, it can help the next person do their build.

Have fun ! Now that someone stickied a 'how-to' for a de-bugging software for photobucket, I'm sure that there will be a lot of old build threads that now have pics once again. Don't be shy about asking opinions, this is one of the few remaining sub-forums where everyone is helpful.

That is awesome that there is a fix for it. Hope it happens here, so many great builds but no photos.

Having said that, if anyone has a front and top shot of their jeep with the scx10, wraith and WK axles, not only for me but others I would be greatfull for that. I know the SCX10 people have used wideners.

Damn, this is gonna be fun.!

We'll be there for ya, I've got the older style Hasbro, but I'm running wraith axles and an scx-10 chassis. I'm on almost every night unless I'm working.

Willys #2 showed up from its long journey from the USA.
Started to cut the frame of the "fake parts" and set up my design for the roll bar I am going to build.... attempt.

If you don't want to make a roll bar/cage, Zoso from rcpcrawlers.com sells them ready to go for your body style. Check at the top of the main page "New Products"

Reading the build threads and piecing what I would need to put this thing together, example, the lower link / shock mounts mounts is how I discovered RCP's website. Zoso and I have been emailing back and forth. I am going to give it a shot building my own, see what happens. I am going to put a order in for a few things. It is Christmas after all.

Thank you for the heads up on the site, much appreciated ! and those looking at the site, all the items are under the " GI Joe Willys" section.

Thanks guys
your build will be great
we have built them with all the axles
the best IMHO is the scx10 with the xr mod
the wheely king works best with no mods
the wraith will work just inset the wheels as far as possible

just have fun!

Now that Christmas and New Years over, as fast as they arrived, family headed home and I unlocked the door to the RC room and work begins. While I wait for parts to show up that I ordered after Christmas or 20 minutes ago ( RCP - RPP - Boom Racing ). Its been your basic slice and dice of plastic.

I started to work on the Tube frame behind the seats, as I followed all the notes I took , I was wonder why everyone else mention the height to be 120mm when I was at 140. I went back, looked at a few build threads... wth is going on.

I measured the passenger and he was fine for the 120mm height. So lined them all up, 3 of them are about 15mm taller than the other 2.

So, for the first build, the 2 guys are the winners. I started to mock up the roll cage with hangers that I took apart. just to get a visual of what I want to do.

When I built my 1st cage, I just sat "joe" in the drivers seat and made a cage around him so that he wouldn't crack his head open on the main hoops. I've owned these 1:1 Jeeps, they're tight on space in every direction ! I don't know if I could even squeeze behind the wheel of a bone stock one any more, it's been 25 years since I've driven one.

I had a 74 jeep CJ7 in 1985, had it for a year then sold it for $$ when the jeep craze kicked in. Have not owned or driven one since.
