Default 1:6 Raptor: My First Large Build

Well, of course the large scale builds would catch my fancy. I was able to snag a New Bright Raptor body so I decided to start with one of those since the seem the most basic.

I'm using 1/2" aluminum c-channel from the hardware store for the rails.
I 3d printed a skid platter for a Wraith.
I'm using a Wraith trans, axles, and the longest WB8 HD drive shafts.
I'm making homemade links from Traxxas rod ends, 8-32 all-thread, and steal brake line tubing.

I've made some progress but need to figure out a few things still yet.

The chassis rails are welded. Except that recently I determined that the vertical section just in front of the skid plate wad going to cause too many problems with the links. So, I cut the frame just in front of the upper link mounted and it now rises at a 45° angle. I did that alteration using Alumiweld aluminum brazing rods. It will be interesting to see how those joints hold up.

Very curious as to how the Alumaweld works out for you. I have some here, though I've never tried it.

The 4 upper link mounts are attached with alumiweld and it's a but joint. Once they were set, I put the blues on one and started twisting it. The chassis bent.
I would say the bond is pretty good with proper prep, heat, and application.
