Default question about 1/6 willys axle

greeting from china! my hasbro arrived today! it is 2003 version, pretty a good deal which it comes with 4 tents.

I know many builder use wk ck axles but when I measured the width with yota ii axle it seems a bit ok just a little worry the turning angle is too small cos the inner fender looks quite close to the wheel.

so my question is if anyone using yota axles being successful?

thks in advance!

I have a friend that is building one of these jeeps using the Yota axles. He's had to use a wide hex in order to keep the tires far enough away from the body so that it can steer. The wide hexes bring on their own set of issues to deal with.

Maybe a thinner ( skinny) tire might help you? I don't have any good answers for you but curious to see what you come up with.

I can't answer your question about the Yota axles, but wider axles is usually the best idea.

If your going to use something that is not close to the stock size, you should try wider offset wheels or wider axles. Using wheel wideners can add extra stress to axle ends, bearings, and steering components. I modified a couple of D44's for my CJ, and they look very scale and perfect width. You can check it out here.

Nice starter rig for your project. I have 2 of these Hasbro Jeeps and 1 trailer.
The Wraith width axles (centered diff in the rear) seem to fit the best, good luck.

Wow you're getting very detailed with this build. It's going to be so awesome when completed.

Nice metal work as well.

Good idea strengthening the frame with epoxy!

I will be watching this thread.

Updated: I need to uplift the engine bay so that it wont hit the front axle for keeping the overall height not so high but ensuring a certain upward travel

Looking good so far, I assume it's just a mock up, but you are going to center the rear axle in the wheelwells

Check into some of the other late Hasbro Jeep builds throughout this section, you don't have a lot of space to work with, but they made them work with stiffer suspension. It's looking good in the last photo, looks like the right ride height. PM BigSki, Bitter End, KMS, or Zoso, maybe they can give you some tips.

ya, I will add few s/s tube under the engine bay and solder them, and might compress those tubes so the save more vertical space for axles and upper link , in the end, will post pics while finished.

yes stiffer damper might help but I like it more dynamic rolling movement (horizontal and linear)

battery I will place in rear bed so there will be enough space after motor raise up

looking good ...don't worry about up travel ...it will be minimal...try to get as much articulation as you can in the front.
you can get a lot of drop out and articulation out of the rear....work on the rear ...
