Default 1/6th F250 Project working class aka " The Flying Brick"

i've been wanting to do a large scale build for a long time, recently got my hands on this body. The detail is amazing but....the utards at fastlane put the lift on upside down I feel it's my civic duty to corect it.

size comaparison to a tamiya 1:10 tamiya f350 body.

Got a little work done on it today, Mocked up a frame still waiting on a pile of parts before i set the width in stone or add the crossmembers and body mounts but I know where I'm going with it.

Frame is 1" square steel, split down the middle and seam welded I also filled in the c on both sides to more resemble a stamped chassis. The welds and joints will get cleaned up and filled in after final assembly then it will get sent out for powdercoating.

this is close to where the final ride hight will be. a little on the high side I think

Got the axles assembled and started fabbing up the front link/shock mounts.

Also got my g-made shocks assembled and set the frame width at 4 1/8th"

thats all for now..back to my beer

Got a little more done tinkered with some link and shock mounts and fabbed the body mounts.

This set up worked out really well.

the interior sits between the lower black rails and the actual body. So the lower rails are mounted directly to the frame with a nice little o-ring for a bushing and the interior can stay chassis mounted or be removed with four screws from the bottom side.

I will be mounting the electronics in the unused space under the back seat and will still be able to remove the body without unpluging everything

Also fabbed up the front shock mounts and panhard brace got those welded into place so now the front end is self supporting.

Thats all for now..

Well dinked around with it a little bit more today while i've got the time gotta go back to work tomorrow. I at least wanted to get to a roller

Fabbed the rear spring hangers. This was my first attempt at brazing and I quickly figured out that i'm a much better welder than a brazer but I was getting the hang of it. I'll probably redo the spring hangers to clean them up a little bit but these will work for now.

Also made the u-bolts lift blocks and plates, I know i'll end up redoing these I kinda rushed a bit...oil burner in the shop crapped out on me so that will be my next project

And a couple flex shots the articulation is awesome may have to stiffen up the rear a bit if it's gonna pull a trailer

All for now

That is such a sick body to start with! Nice fab work as well! Why not a summit trans? I would think the 2 speed would be handy. Also any plans for a 2wd/4wd setup?

I thought about the summit trans but I really like how centered the 3906 emaxx trans is and after mocking it up it just lokks kick a** in the engine compartment and those twin pullers will have plenty of range.

And for the 2wd/4wd...I've been racking my brain on that one thought about taking the rc4wd R2 1:1 ratio trans and the r2 disco trans and combining a few parts to make a selectable transfer case out of them but still debating on whether or not it would hold up? this rig will probably weigh 25+ pounds I need something tough.

Got a little more done to it today, starting to come along nicely.

I raised the front chassis link mounts. With no weight on it they didnt look to bad but after adding close to 5 lbs with body motor etc.. they ended up parallel. I also dug through the workshop and found some 7/16 rubber bump stops that look alot more like body bushing and give it an overall higher stance.

also got the motor/main gearbox mounts fabbed up and fabbed the steering set up.

Bellcrank is from hot racing its a hop up for a tamiya highlift. I brazed a gearhead rc fabrication tab to the VP ti tie rod and used an old bent revo turnbuckle for the draglink, also fabbed some servo brackets to mount along the frame behind the motor. ran all the linkage and i'm impressed at how well it looks and functions..I figured i'd at least have to redo it twice to get it right

it'l be a snug fit in the engine compartment once i get the fenderwells in place and start adding the scale accesories but im sure I can fit it all in there somewhere.

thats all for now feel free to weigh in on this one Im second guessing myself so much I'm starting to not like working with me..lol

That's a very nice start. You going to make all those subs into real speakers?!?

The MTZ's are perfect size to tuck up into the wheel well, If I go much bigger I'd either have to trim the body ( kind of a crime IMO ) or raise the whole rig and make it very top heavy

Havnt thrown it on the scale yet but I'm guessing upwards of 25-30lbs with battery and all

Wow, great looking build so far! Centered rear axle and front dual lower links set it off.
