Default Bantam T3-C

I'm in the process of building a trailer to go with my CJ-6. It started as a Hasbro GI Joe Bantam T3. After doing a little research, I decided to make it the civilian version, the T3-C. I got some wheels and tires from a stock Willys Jeep, and painted them up. I made an axle and fabricated it so each wheel spins independently on bearings, that way there isn't any binding while turning. Waiting on some cut-off wheels that I ordered, so I can get the tongue pieces cut. I'm still not sure how I'm going fab up the drawbar/lunette mount.

So here's a couple of pics of the progress so far...

More progress today...shackle/spring mounts fabbed and mounted, tongue support bars cut and installed, and shocks mounted. Trying to use as much scale hex hardware as possible, but I will need to order some more. Just have to use button heads for now.

On to the pics...

For the lunette, I used an eyebolt, & on the jeeps bumper, I used a keychain clip

Thanks Mike, that's awesome! Quick and simple solution that looks like it works well.

I may not have used the proper terminology, but I'm planning on the civilian ball hitch.

This is how the original would look...

...but I want to add a little more modern touch to it, with a newer style hitch...

I scoured the Google machine for anything that would resemble a newer style hitch, and could only come up with a 1/10 scale hitch...

It really looks the part, but it's too small for a big Jeep. It does give me some good ideas for fabbing one up that will be the right scale and functional.

That'd be cool if you could fab one.

Had a few days off for the holiday and made some more progress. Fabbed the stanchion mount out of styrene. This a little too intricate to fab out of brass or aluminum. Maybe it could be 3D printed in aluminum.... Although this is a small update, it took me 2 days to build it. It's fully functional and scale, at this point.

This is what I wanted to replicate

I still need to fab the coupler to fit a scale, 2 inch ball, but here's what I have so far...

Thanks. The hitch is finished and functional and I may venture to paint it up later today, after I shovel the snow out of my driveway.

Ebay has one with the Jeep right now for a reasonable price.

Bonus for this one...the grill is M38.

I have been debating using my unbuilt dragon jeep as a donor for the M38 build - it’ll be more accurate and I just have to change the grill and windshield.

Lots to think about

Well, being home with everything that's going on right now, I actually got motivated to finish the frame.

The hitch is functional on an 8mm ball, which is about scale for a 2" ball. Each wheel rotates individually which minimizes any potential binding while turning. I'm hoping the weather will be good enough to get the bed primed tomorrow, for now, some pics...enjoy.

Finally finished for now. It'll be painted the final color to match the CJ-6, but for now it has been primed and is ready to go. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. On to the pics...
