| 1/6th Dragon Willys Jeep
Thanks for the add guys I recently bought an rc Dragon Willys jeep! I have an unbuilt one I was waiting to convert but this came up at a reasonable price. It’s been converted well but the front axle is causing me issues. The axles are ARB plastic and the rear was extended using hex axle wideners which fit perfectly with the stock wheels and tyres. The front was built using two axles to make it wider. Now, this is where the issues lay. The front axle was bonded together and was showing signs of splitting. I have managed the sleeve the axle and re fit it but I am not 100% happy. What axle can I replace it with the get the stock look? I read the AR60 is perfect but a bit wider. I have 240mm pin to pin end measurements. Photos to follow. Adam Last edited by Ad Lav; 02-16-2020 at 07:36 AM. |

Looking forward to see how this turns out. Are you building it stock?

I had the D60's on my CJ6 orginally. I combined the front and rear housings to make a wider front by gluing them together. The glue seam was made at the point where the clamps were placed, to maintain some strength in the plastic. I used the 12mm extenders on the rear. I have since converted them to the metal D44's and put the D60's aside, for now. Check out post #26 here... CJ-6 Check out post #22 in the original thread...here. I ran the jeep again today, seems to be running pretty damn well. It’s no crawler as such, I have the stock wheels and tyres on it which will be useless. Looking into a cheap 21st century or Soldier of the world jeep to make a proper crawler out of. Does anyone know if you can get axle shaft cups with a longer cut out slot for the shaft to fit into? |

I don't think I've ever seen deeper cups, but Tamiya makes longer axles...PN 50808(SP80. With some spacers or wider hex's, it would give you some extra width outside the hubs. Traxxas makes some 8mm hex's. |

I noticed on full lock that one side the shaft end is very close to popping out of the cup slot!

You could shim the inner and outer axles a little. You could also add some kind of a stop on the steering knuckles that would keep it from going beyond that point. Evening up the toe-in or out may also reduce the side that is close to popping out. |

I just got FMS' new 1/6 ROCHOBBY 1941 MB Scaler yesterday so don't have a clue yet on parts availability but the tires that came with this are nice. Overall happy with the detailing & build quality. Initial impressions are quite good except for the suspension which is far too soft. Haven't had chance to take it out but need to switch out the shock springs for something far more stiffer. As is, it can even carry one figure without lurching around like a drunken sailor on liberty & that was just running it around a few minuets in the living room. https://www.fmsmodel.com/product/roc...april-21/1182/ |

| Re: 1/6th Dragon Willys Jeep I've heard that too, and they're supposed to be quite stout for these large rigs. They can be tricky with a leaf sprung suspension though. I wanted a much more scale look for mine and the D44's can't be beat for scaleness. |
