Dusting off the old TXTs Man it's been way too long but my nephew is into RC crawlers now. So I'm breaking out the old TXTs and revamping a few things and building a project with spares. My first problem is I don't seem to see big tires anymore. I'm looking for something in the 7" range like my current "Clod Swamp Dawgs". The largest I've really seen is the XL mud stingers at 5.5". Which would be OK for a 10th scaler but I'm looking more for the 6th scale realm and 6.5 - 7". I'll be looking for a more longitudinal trans and tease too so any opinions on what to look for are welcome. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5a19ecae7f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b3a177e564.jpg Sent from my SM-A015A using Tapatalk |
Re: Dusting off the old TXTs your best bet would.be to search for 40 series or 3.8 tires and wheels there arent alot of good crawler tires in that size though |
Re: Dusting off the old TXTs Pit Bull makes some nice 40 series Rock Beast tires. https://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/pbtpb9009zdk.htm And RC4WD makes a few nice looking 40 series wheels and tires. https://store.rc4wd.com/40-Series-Wheels_c_61.html https://store.rc4wd.com/40-Series-Tires_c_86.html |
Re: Dusting off the old TXTs Ooooh, those rock crushers at 8.25" would equal 49.5s in 1/6!!! Nice, thank you. The Mickelson don't look bad neither Sent from my SM-A015A using Tapatalk |
Re: Dusting off the old TXTs I built a 6x6 with the 40s crushers on MF axles, it's huge. It would look silly with the narrow txts. |
Re: Dusting off the old TXTs Yeah I wish they were a bit wider. I'll probably go with the pitbulls. 7.3" tall and 3" wide. Which is narrower than what I got now and I don't like how wide they are. On narrowed TXT rims and tad over 3.5" wide now and right at 7 tall Sent from my SM-A015A using Tapatalk |
Re: Dusting off the old TXTs 4 Attachment(s) Here's some pics with txts and tires you mentioned Irregardless, I wouldn't put anything wider than 2.2 wheels with any tire larger than 6" on TXT axles anymore. Axle gears are really hard to find these days. The bevel gears near impossible. I have two sets going into rigs, one stock with 5.5" 2.2 rock crushers(light trailing), and another set with the egressor 4:1 gear set. (Light crawling) If you absolutely need tires that big, Mad force axles are the strongest and most affordable solution, otherwise, your results may vary.. |
