Has anyone put scx6 tires on a Ryft?

I know there's a bunch of threads on ryft as crawler, but has anyone tried to fit Scx6 proline sx tires on a ryft? I could use a modern chassis large crawler. It would open up a lot of new crawling spots for me with 7+in tires. Years ago I built a stick chassis clod but I'd like to have a ryft based version.

Wouldn’t they rub the chassis everywhere, then break the driveline and steering because of the larger diameter and mass? Same reason you don’t see 40” tall TT tires on a class 1 buggy. Thought #2 is how hard the tires are coming from a heavier rig. Do your homework, big wheels aren’t cheap.

bigger is never cheap
with big tires you need bigger axles and a bigger servo then your driveshaft will need upgrading and who knows what all its gona take to make it all play nice
but i think its doable sounds like a cool idea for a scratch build to me

I hear you, I was thinking about a 1/6? Scale version of pretty penny. I'm sure the axles would hold up to 20t 550 5 slot. Not sure what transmission to run. I've got a ryft that I never use and a bunch or 5/16 stainless tube. I just saw the new 2.9 proline swampers released and started thinking about a build.

It's not as if the SCX6 tires are worlds bigger-- the Swampers on the Ryft are 6 inches tall and 2.3 inches wide on a 2.2 wheel. The SCX6 stock tires are just over 7 inches tall and about 2.75 inches wide on a 2.9 wheel. It's about the same jump as going from a 1.9 to a 2.2 of the same mfr.

Taking the PL Hyrax for instance, the 1.9 is 4.75H and 1.74W, the 2.2 is 5.75W and 2.15 wide, and the 2.9 is 7.28H and 2.75W. If you can put a 2.2 on a 1.9 rig and it doesn't explode, I don't see why you couldn't put a 2.9 on a 2.2 rig and have it survive.

I'm slowly moving forward on this build. Still thinking 1/8 -1/6 scale moon buggy, ryft axles, 4ws steering, wraith skid, 3gear trans, smt10/ ae 1/8 buggy shocks,, capra scx links. Should put me at 14" wb. Drive shafts will be interesting, I have 14 ft of 1/4 0.35 stainless tube, some fresh Flux and more 56% safety silver. I have spare front axles parts as I'm a first
generation ryft owner " thanks horizonhobby.com " Just ordered ryft universals & knuckles on ebay. I guess I'll pirate the ryft for a while. I've never photo documented a build on here here but this one could be sweet.

Been looking for 17mm slim hexs for this, any ideas?

Slim hex? What is that, minimum offset? If that is the case and your Ryft axles are 6mm, go Traxxas 1/10 Summit. they are that funky star looking design, but fit all 17mm wheels and are maybe 1/2" wide overall.

Cool build, I have that same body, and intend to use 40s roc lock tires on some mad force axles. Let's see some pictures, or it didn't happen.
