i just got my x factor axles in the mail this morning and immediately got started on this build. i started with the 1:1 vehicle i was going to start with, the Cyclops. I took the pics i got of that and scaled all the measurements down to 1/8 scale. I'm estimating needing around 20-25 ft of tubing for this rig. i plan on starting on the tube work tomorrow.

LST's on x-75's fro now, need new wheels(way too wide)

i dont think im vever getting rid of these tire/wheels, i love them, they work great.

i got some of the tube work done today. ill have pics when the camera is done charging

Oh and im gonna be using a maxx tranny, locked in first with a 65 turn axiom on 7-8 cells, so you think im gonna need to run a GD-600?

Allot will depend on the weight of the thing,what kinda shape your cells are in,your final drive gear ratio and what kinda wheelspeed you want. If your looking for good power,low end and wheelspeed out of a 65t,you ain't gonna get it. IMHO,a lathe motor is to slow and a far cry from being powerfull.

Im guessing around a 11 lb rig. so it looks like i better start saving for a Bl set-up. What do ya recommend?

That depends on how far you wanna push your rig.:lol: Is it bombproof?:lol:


I'm running a Mamba Maxx/Hyperion 3025-8 combo from Holmes Hobbies. With the right gear ratio and 8-9 cells it's VERY nice. Pleanty of torque to sheer spur teeth off WITH the slipper unlocked and decent wheelspeed. Run 10 cells and burn your tires leaving black marks on the rocks:lol:

well i hoping to make it bombproof, i'm not worried about the axles, the tranny should handle it, and i'm thing of making some driveshafts like you metal ones.
im not sure though that i can justify $230 in the motor and esc to my parents:lol: , what about the mamba 25, i noticed you ran that, did it work ok with the Hyperion 3025-8(thats the motor i want)?

Steel driveshafts aren't really needed. The Revo's are taking my abuse nicely. They've really suprized me,they've stood up to some serious abuse that lead to steel gear failures. IMHO,you can't go wrong with the Revo's. Steel shafts are a pain to build,heavy and have allot of rotating mass.

The Mamba 25 won't handle a heavy super. I never ran the Hyperion motor on the 25,I ran a MPJet motor. It would get hot trying to pull a heavy super around. Thats why I'm running the Max now"thumbsup" I've still got my Mamba 25 set aside for my upcoming 2.2 secret build;-)

Thats the beauty of the Mamba Max. You don't have to run the brushless at first. It'll run brushed or brushless"thumbsup" Set it up with a cheap lathe motor or 27t stock motor. Save up and go brushless later;-)

never thought of that, then it wouldn't be such a shock to my wallet, thats what i think im gonna do, get the esc first then , the BL motor later. thanks for your help. so a maxx trans and revo shafts should handle that kind of power alright?

ok i see what your building it after, but i dont see the cyclops in the 1:1 either.

look right under the front stinger, theres a huge headlight, which is the eye

no progress so far to speak of, im waiting to get the tranny so i can finish the trans mounts and frame braces. so if it shows tomorrow ill have some progress"thumbsup"

ok i didnt have any school today(a teacher died so they closed school so we could all go to the funeral)

after that i started working on it again so heres what i got done . i still need to make link mounts/tranny mounts, and some other little stuff, and clean up the joints some more. Im gonna do a green frame(paint in the pics) and black panels.
