1/6 Hummer Well I got this thing for a birthday present and have been doing tons and tons of work to it since then. The truck came with narrowed E-Maxx axles and were only compateble with narrowed stock Maxx shafts. I was breaking them before you could say SNAP!! So I mounted up my stock width axles with Rpm a-arms, spools and cvds and wheeled it. It was so big and top heave that I wound up rolling down a 10-15 foot hill and cracked the body. I then attempted the hill again, same thing happend. So I put some Shoe Goo on the cracks and was on the trails again. Then I had it in great shape when I took it to a constructoin site and broke a rear lockout rodend, the ones that keep the tires from turning. I also killed my motors there. So I as fixing the rear when I thought about adding rear steering. I put everything together and tried it. Every since then I have been haveing electrical problems. So I was going to do a rebuild and use all new electronics (because I fried my esc). Then I had so many other projects and a very tight budget and was going to sell it. Now I have decided to keep it (and cause more headaches:lol:). I have now had it sitting in my workshop for weeks and am FINALLY getting time to work on it. I have finished all of my front steering and most of the rear finished. I have mounted up a servo to change gears in the Maxx tranny. I am now using Savage shocks with the springs taken off. I have gobs of articulation. I still have alot to do and not enough money to do it because I am only 11 years old. But here are some pictures of it. Enjoy! http://inlinethumb41.webshots.com/49...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb32.webshots.com/63...425x425Q85.jpg Tranny shifter http://inlinethumb16.webshots.com/32...425x425Q85.jpg Front axle http://inlinethumb36.webshots.com/40...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb34.webshots.com/57...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb16.webshots.com/50...425x425Q85.jpg Full lean http://inlinethumb28.webshots.com/32...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb51.webshots.com/35...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb29.webshots.com/48...425x425Q85.jpg ThanX, Krystopher |
looks good. you definately need springs! |
My problem with using springs is that it will sit to high. Then it also looks like a shorter wheel base. Plus I would still get the same amount of flex, just it would be to stiff. I am trying to get rid of my tires rubbing in the fender area. I had the tires rubbing all the time with the Maxx shocks and springs. Now it only rubs at full flex. ThanX, Krystopher |

Remove some weight  Why is your gear switch servo mounted at an angle ?:?: By the way , This is not a Large Scale Crawler, it's a Maxx crawler, you should get better feedback in the MAXX forum |

The chassis and body are scale aren't they? I had other guys tell me that it was a scaler. I will try to make it more scale after it runs by adding things like a Highlift jack etc. ThanX, Krystopher |
I may not be seeing straight but isn't there alot of rear axle steer going on? If you triangulate the lower links a little, it'll cure that. |

I will be running it with rear steering and the front steering both on a y-harness. I still need to get a rear servo, it will be a Hitec 945mg with about 150oz of torque. I also might be going brushless if I can get it cheap wich I think I might have found. What do you mean by triangulating the links? ThanX, Krystopher |

Check out my thread: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...ght=axle+steer Look at the 2nd picture. You can see the axle flexing and it is no longer parallel with the frame crossmember above it. That is axle steer. Mine wasn't that bad like your's though. I had the same rear suspension setup that you have now and then converted to dual triangulation so it's much better. You don't HAVE to change your setup though. It can be run like that with some strange tracking behavior in the rear. Totally up to you. |
1 Attachment(s) this is a rough drawing (very rough) of how you want your links |
I see now. I think that I will leave it how it is. I may put on limiting straps of some sort though. It has way to much flex than what it needs. I added some accessories to make it more realistic. I will post pics later. ThanX, Krystopher |
