| Let there be light!
Tonight I did a little soldering and drilling and gluing and came up with this: Here's what it looks like with the flash: This is only part of a $2.50 set of battery powered christmas lights from Target. In the package I got 20 super bright white LED's, a 3 cell AA holder with a switch and it even included batteries! I mounted them up and re-wired them, finally filling all of the housings possible on the Jeep. I even bored out the plastic grid in the bumper light housings to make them usable as light housings. Here's another shot: I was driving it all over the place in the dark. These things are BRIGHT! The rest of the string is probably going to be mounted along the undside of the body as rock lights. I taped them in place and really like the effect, it makes it much easier to drive it in the dark and gives it a sorta neon-kit look, too. Here's a shot of it before I re-worked all the lights, in this shot you can see the molded-in grid the bumper housings had that I bored out: Amazing what you can do for under $10 total(counting the solder and wire I used), isn't it? BTW, the Jeep is a 1/6 scale New Bright Rubicon body on top of a custom maxx-based, dual-tranny, 4ws chassis that I came up with last year. It works pretty well, even if it's not the most scale suspension type for the body.... LOL! |
