Hi folks Just found out that quite some traffic comes from your forum. I admit, that the English written content is hardly existent, but you'll find many photos on my web site (www.makau.ch) under BAU (construction of the model) that'll show some steps involved in scratch building my Mog. Should your preference be, watching some moving pictures from my Mog, here we go: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/1706765 http://www.myvideo.de/watch/1707695 http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2223728 http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2231147 And here's some vids from a friend's finished Mog, also scratchbuilt as mine in 1/8th scale. http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2096687 http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2097091 http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2097149 http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2097232 His model is also featured on my web site under the menu ANDERE MODELLE (other models) --> Uni v. E.Würsten Dunno, if some of you are living in regions where there's lots of snow during winter time, but if you are, then check out ANDERE MODELLE --> Uni v. Th.Heike --> IM EINSATZ and then, scroll down and have a look at the video from this fellows scratch built snowblower in 1/8th scale. Neat hu? Have fun! Martin |

Well, what's it got to do with the continent one might ask.... lathes and milling machines exist also over there I'd guess... Again, my Mog is completely scratch built, apart from the tires and cab. Happy modelling, Martin |

I'm just curious how much time you have in the construction of your Unimog? I have a lathe, and would like to have a milling machine, but think I need a good deal of patience to get anywhere with either of them. Excellent looking rig by the way. |

Hardly any I must confess. I've started with the Mog by the end of 2000 and 6 years later, it was running for the first time. I'd say, that you'd be able to build one yourself in about 350 - 450 hours, depending on your skills and in particular: your workshop equipment. The detailling or fancy gadgets may consume another couple of hundert hours. I once took two weeks off work just to get on with the project. Anyway, Rome hasn't been built in one day as they say, so there's no rush with the hobby Regards, Martin |

Thank you. I won't part with it, nor my colleague. There was too much spare time that went into it... There was hardly any scratch built model on the market over here during the last years. However, there are some guys in Switzerland and Germany which will build nearly everything you can imagine for cash and in comparison to some off the shelf stuff, it's very good value for money... Happy modelling, Martin |

The cab is from a small manufacturer called Schink http://www.schink-1-8.de/webshop.htm --> click on Produktübersicht (product overview) --> Euro Trucks --> Unimog I've bougt the cab many years ago before the Euro existed.... so better have a seat before checking the price as of today. Oh, and yes, before you get too excited or having excpectations that can't be matched.... this stuff is made of GRP = no fancy stuff such as Lexan or ABS that can be cut with some nail scissors on a kitchen table. The cab needs a lot of work to finish. Cheers, Martin |

Nope, they're definitely not made of gold :-) You didn't say in what scale you're trying to built your own mog. The one you were checking is 1/8 scale but there's another source for Unimog cabs in smaller scale (1/12 I believe). However, here's some moving pics to fire up your motivation: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2589311 The models are 1/8 scale, both completely self made. The digger weights 85kg (!) and works really nicely. Regards, Martin |

Hi there Mog has seen very little progress during the last months, but has finally received some self made shock absorbers so that the driver doesn't get seasick anymore. Happy about this, he went off for some driving through the woods. http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=YN6LdhoMFm0 Happy modelling! Martin |
