1/6 Escalade Winter Break Project

I hope to begin this over winter break. We are out in a couple of weeks. Does anybody know where I can get the plans for the frame. I also have a 1/12 Hardbody Maui Beard body that I would trade someone for some help with parts for the build. I know some people on here don't agree on the body being the right "style" for a 4x4 but I know a guy who has a 1:1 and it is nice. He even drives it in the mud.

I see great minds think alike! Im working on a 1/6 scaler myself! I have the GMC Yukon Denali body. Check out the pics on the post "New Toy" in this section! In regards to building plans just do some research on here, im sure you will find everything you need to help you out. Good luck and look forward to progress pics!

IMO I think you should go for as much irony as possible, and make it look like some supid celebrity decided to go rock crawling.

IE: Spinners instead of rock rings, leave the speakers, paint it bright purple, etc "thumbsup"

CyCrawler 11-28-2007 05:24 PM

I don't know if I will leave the speakers. If I do I'll pull the weight off tht reall speaker.

CyCrawler 11-30-2007 05:46 PM

What do you guys think about TxT axles. I found a pair on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Tamiya-TXT-1-Axl...QQcmdZViewItem

CyCrawler 12-02-2007 02:18 PM

Here are some pics from this weekend. I sanded down the body and got ride of the seems plus pulled the body off the frame and stripped it. The last pick is a mock up pick. I like the size of the Maxx rims so I think I will just take a pair and resize them.

Here is what the underside looked like. The second shot is the speaker and led's.

Here are the headlights. I had a problem with the park lights to much power and they started to smoke. I also blew the brake lights so I will have to pick up some more leds.

nice body that thing is big  I wish I could find a ext cab sliverado that big  o yeah one more thing where are you getting the leds from Im looking for some myself

Nice build

Nice, I thing the TXTs will look great under that body. Man I would leave the speakers in, as it adds alot of scale detail to your body. You may want to look at the Losi Zombie tire for the 40 series tires. But I would definatly play up the "bling" factor. Like something that would make those "Unique whips" wet there pants in fear! I even saw a wwf guy that would look perfect He was wearing a suit

Someone posted a comment on another thread about the lights. One of the places they said was Walgreens and it so happens that Walgreena has a set of 10 for a wreath that are batt. operated on sale. The should fit in the slots. If not I'm going to try Radio Shack.

It was a 17 1/2" wb and is 12" wide at the fender wells.

As far as the ext cab silverado body get a 1/6 SS silverado

http://www.boscovs.com/StoreFrontWeb...9&type=Product

I got a few two black and one red very durable bodies buy they show

finger prints and scratches and they are heavy.

SSMuddHauller69 12-02-2007 08:18 PM

Sweet body and it sounds like its going to be a awsome build. Definately go with the txt axles they should make it look mean. How heavy would you say the body is and were abouts did you get it from?

Looking for a second body for my SS silverado frame, what is the WB of that thing?

CyCrawler 12-02-2007 09:09 PM

The body stripped weighs around 3 lbs. I got the body from Wal-Mart a couple of years ago. My little brother had been playing with it until he got in to video games. I decide to make it my first complete build. I figured it would be easier then a 1.9 scaler. We shall see if I'm right.

CyCrawler 12-08-2007 09:25 AM

I am getting my hands on the raw material this week. I have finals to study for this weekend so the build is on hold until after that.

intimadationrc 12-08-2007 04:03 PM

I'm doing one of those 1/6's myself but the big ford with real working radio lol it's in the so what do you think tread.......

CyCrawler 12-12-2007 03:57 PM

Help........................

So I was planning on running txt axles but I have been reading everyone else's threads and I think I want to run tlt's or wheely king. I need help. Can you give me your opinion of what a good axle would be. TXT's seem to be hard to find and pricer then tlt's. I am a college student so budget friendly is good. I can't seen to get my t-maxx sold so I guess I will have to find another "bank"

Edit.....
What about AX-10 axles??

Mriswith 12-12-2007 05:49 PM

Finally got around to checking out the bigger rigs. I like the Caddy idea. So much I did it myself.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ose01Front.jpg

But to add something useful on axles, how wide is that body? There's a huge difference between TXT and TLT, something like what 3 inches in width. I haven't gotten my hands on TXT axles so I'm not sure how wide but TLTs with standard Axial beadlocks are 9 1/2 inches wide outside to outside, The AX-10 are 1/2" wider at 10 inches and the Wheely King measure out at 11 inches with the same wheels. So if those were standard Maxx wheels I'm guessing that body is somewhere around 11ish inches wide. You might want look at some Wheely King axles. If it needs to go wider, stick to the TXT and wait for a deal. Of course there's Clod axles. Little harder to make scale but you don't have to worry about cramming a transmission into it.

CyCrawler 12-12-2007 07:17 PM

Thanks..... It is just shy of 12" on the outer most part which is the fender flares. I guess could try clods. They had a deal on ebay for txt's and tranny but I didn't have the money. I really like your truck and I am looking forward to getting this done.

Will they move this thread if I end up going with clod axles?

Mriswith 12-12-2007 07:52 PM

I would say no but it really isn't up to me. You've already got the hardbody and interior and lights. With such a huge body, the Clod axles won't seem that out of wack and you can run a huge wheel package, most 2.2 would probably look small on it. Sure TXT's with shafts would look better but go with what you can and have fun and the clods would probably be easier to work with and keep the interior intact. I've been wanting to do something like this but just haven't come across a deal on the right body.

CyCrawler 12-14-2007 01:56 PM

I'm working on the design for the frame this weekend. I have a friend who is going to cut out the frame next week. :flipoff:

Prophecy 12-15-2007 04:57 PM

hey i hit you up before. we kinda started our 1/6 scale projects at the same time, i have the black GMC Yukon. Anyway i went with the X-factor axles for mine, cause width was my concern as well, really hard to get a hold of but you gotta be patient. Just something to think about;-), later!
