Default Scale Hubs are here!

Back in stock!

Another batch of Locked Up RC Scale Hubs are ready to ship!

We are offering both front and rear covers that are matching in size.

These are 10.8mm in diameter, which makes them smaller than Axial hub covers and larger than RC4WD front hubs and makes them perfect for our scale wheels that have the 8 lug wheel pattern.

Front Scale Hubs - Covers

Rear Scale Hubs - Covers

Hub tools to help get them off:
Front Scale Hubs - tool
Rear Scale Hubs - tool

They are available on the website:
Welcome to Locked Up RC - Scale Performance Parts

They are actually pretty different once you compare them in hand. These are in between sizes of RC4WD and Axial. The Axial hubs are a little big for our wheels (with bolt patterns) and the RC4WD hubs are a little small for them. So we went ahead and made some that we think go better with our wheels... but at the end of the day I guess they all look similar since they are what they are!

Just bought the ones with the nylock in them. Those go down as far as these ones do correct?

The prototypes are different from these.

The proto's are actually wheel nut replacements, meaning you do not use a regular wheel nut with/under them.

Quote:
These are our prototype Scale Hubs. They mimic the looks of a full float rear axle and a manual hub sticking out from the wheel faces.

Designed & manufactured in the USA, these hubs are "wheel nut replacements" ... meaning that they act both as a wheel nut and to give you that maximum scale appearance.

A pressed in nylon nut helps provide the friction necessary to stay on (like a nyloc nut), but unlike a pressed in nyloc the nylon portion can be more easily replaced.

No tool is provided with these prototypes, they are meant to be "finger tight". If you need a tool to help get them off, we suggest rubber finger tips meant for sewing. Rubber fingers are cheap and will help you grip the hubs enough to get them off.

We do advise against using the rubber finger tips to get the hubs on as this will make it very difficult to get them off. SO, like an oil filter wrench, we suggest you put them on with your fingers and only use the rubber to help remove them if they become overly tight.

We are still working on and improving the design of our Scale Hubs. We offer these to you at a reduced price but because they are prototypes they come with no warranty.
If you have any questions on those just let me know.

Hey Patrick,

I got mine in and they look awesome! I was wondering what you suggest to keep them tight. I am running them on my wraith which has a decent amount of wheelspeed and it will spin these off fairly quickly if I just hand tighten them.

Thanks!

Got mine in today, they look awesome. Haven't tried them yet but hopefully the nylock holds them well.

Lots of options.

Thread lock is certainly an option if you have our hub tools to help get them off:
Front Scale Hubs - tool
Rear Scale Hubs - tool

Short of the locktite, I actually suggest/use myself a piece of string or synthetic winch line. You can cut a short piece off, lay it in the hole and tighten the hub over it. You just need a small enough piece to provide a little friction. You may not get multiple uses out of the thread but I tested my Wraith with just a small piece of our synthetic line in there and they are still on there plenty solid. Just cut yourself a few strips and throw them in a little zip loc. The other benefit to this is no dry time, unlike loctite.

I've been told by other users that a small piece of paper works as well but I've not tried this myself. Along that line of thought, anything that provide a little friction will likely work for you.

If you do try the string/winch line/paper in there and don't have our tools, I suggest you get one of these to help install/remove them. It helps grip them tighter ... but not as much as the tools obviously:
OfficeMax Rubber Finger Tips

thanks,
Patrick

It should.

Just remember you have the "prototype" versions with the nylon insert and they are talking about the all aluminum versions. Those inserts should provide plenty of friction, just make sure the shaft isn't so long that it bottoms out inside the hub before the hub is seated completely. Otherwise it will start to pull the nylon nut out.

Mine don't bottom out on the axle, they sit flush with the wheel surface. I'll be running it this weekend with the new lipo's I bought as well, so I guess I'll see then if they hold or not, but I'm fairly confident they'll be fine.

Here is a set of 1.9 Monsters using the .450 hubs and the Locked Up nut replacement version of the hubs.

Steve....looking over your website and I do not see a measurement on the length/depth of these. I see 10mm diameter, but.....Also assuming that the covers vs replacements are the same piece with additional milling on the covers, would you be able to provide the depth of threads aswell? Like the look of these and want to give them a go on some slw's if they will fit like I want.

hmmm...week 4 maybe? thanks
