| ![]() ![]() I'm stoked to bring these to yall! We've just updated the store with our latest scale hardware creation. 4-40 Acorn nuts that work with our SLW friendly wheels: 4-40x.25" Acorn Wheel Studs ![]() So if you have been putting off getting yourself a set of SLW style wheels because they were not scale enough ... here is your solution! We are also now carrying a VERY reasonably priced "Acorn Nut Driver" that works with our M2 AND 4-40 Acorn Nuts: Miniature Scale Acorn Nut Driver ![]() Scale it out!!!! Got my hardware today. Mounted the tool on a driver and did a little grinding. I first put them on my sons scaler and the little bit of grinding I did was a must to get them all the way torqued down on the fronts with the scale hubs from TSS. The rears were no problem at all. Went to put them on my Southern Comfort buggy for that last little piece of scaliness and they won't work with the Vanquish KMC 795 Hoss wheels. The crews seat to far into the wheel and I even tried grinding the tool down to the point of no return without luck. Overall, very cool and look great just pay attention to your wheels if they have a similar deep screw seat. |

Carter, For the Vanquish wheels how deep is that recess and how much of the acorn is sticking up as is in that picture (and is it tightened down or loose)? Any chance of putting a spacer behind the head of the acorn to allow some tool engagement? It looks close ... I can definitely look into making some little spacers to help people that are mixing brands like that if you help me figure out the magic numbers. Or possibly some taller heads on the nuts. I certainly want to provide where there is a need! I will definitely get with Cory and see if we can make a version that is more friendly for TSS stuff for the next run ... but it looks like you have a pretty easy fix there ... and they do look great. ![]() Last edited by Locked Up; 01-04-2013 at 08:05 PM. |

It's okay. They are the only wheels I've found like that so you have 99.9% of the wheels covered I'd guess. Making them any longer would probably look bad and not sure I want to put a spacer underneath them. The center cap that is machined into the wheel is also a problem. I ground the tool down to the point where it is almost not useable and it wouldn't be small enough on the OD to get on a tall nut. The acorn nut would have to be smaller and that too would probably look weird. All my other wheels will be getting them though.

I updated the pictures in my earlier post ... Not my best photos ever but you can really start to see how detailed these make the wheels look. You can also see how the newer "SLW friendly" wheel hubs I have in the store slide into the SLW hubs. ![]() ![]() |

I just figured something out about these 4-40's. You can use these on the 1.55 steelies. All you have to do is take a 4-40 tap and tap out the existing holes to 4-40 and thread the acorn screws threw the front into the tapped out hub. I did this on my pin style not sure if it'll work on the hex style hub

As soon as I get the acorn screws I'll post pics.. I used a standard 4-40 bolt that's the same size as the acorns to test out the theory. I placed a order for them a few days ago but a memo on ur site said that you had 1:1 crawler event to go to.. I can't wait to get em..
