Gentlemen,
I was contacted by someone this morning that said they are having an issue with their locker/gear setup. It seems that their locker will not lay flat against their gears.

I pulled some gears out of stock to compare and it appears that some newer Axial OD/UD (possibly HD) gears were machined less than a hair (literally .05mm) differently than the older gears. So you will have a slight interference on this surface with your locker:


Older versions of the gears will go right on the spools. The brand new gears out of my new G6 SCX10 also go right on. I believe all HPI gears will also go right on but do not have them here to test anymore.

So for those of you that are having this issue I'll start with my apologies!

I have 2 options to make this right for you:
1. Fix it yourself and I will get you something back for your trouble.
2. Send them back here and I will fix them for you.

To fix them yourself, you will need to remove about .05mm from the offending surface. You can do that on your gears or your locker. I suggest chucking the locker/gears up in a drill and simply hitting it with sandpaper or a file. It will take ~1 minute. I verified this solution myself, at home, on my desk with a 14.4v cordless drill and my wife's fingernail file/emery board (shhhhh) because that's what most of you have at home. The easiest way to get the locker chucked up is to insert an axleshaft (threads into the drill) then put the locker on the shaft, like so:

That's if you have a smaller drill chuck like I do. Shaft is not necessary if you have a bigger drill.
