Default Locked Up RC - FI Spool

I'm thrilled to present our latest creation, our "FI Spool".

A lot of time and effort has gone into bringing you this spool and we think it will be a real no nonsense winner.

Medium weight (1 oz)
Super durable hardened steel
Compatible with Axial and HPI gear sets

We designed this spool to be a super tight fit ... because nobody likes slop.

We also designed them to be f*****g indestructible.

Order here & enjoy:

Always great to see new parts out from LOCKED UP I was not planning on tearing my axles apart in the middle of the scale season, but for theses it is totally worth it.

Mine are on the way. After the comp on sat I have another reason to tear my rig apart, I broke the 4link in the back again and broke loose the spot weld on the front bumper. First place wins don't come cheap. While those are getting fixed I can pull the axles out and get ready for the new FI Spools.

Got mine yesterday. Woohoo. Now to decide whether to save these for my other 2.2 build or for my 1.9 jk project!

Hello,
I have been looking around RCC to find a new locker/spool (however you prefer to call them). I previously tried to install Hot racing lockers, but upon installation in my SCX10 (with OD and normal gear ratio HD gear), I noticed that the gear mesh between the pinion and the ring gear was just horrible (gritty). To find out if the lockers where the problem, I pulled out my trusty electronic calipers. What I have found is pretty disturbing, from the highest point of the locker to the highest part of the ring gear, without bearings installed (From the tip of where both bearings are supposed to be installed), the stock setup (stock lockers, stock ring gear) measured 24.76mm, so this was now my baseline measure. So I then measured the Hot racing locker with the overdrive gear, 24.48mm!!!! The dimensions were so off that I could move the ring gear left and right in the bearing slot! No wonder my gear mesh was off. To further my testing, I measured Hot racing locker with stock gears, 24.46mm, same problem as before. So in the meantime, I am running the stock lockers with overdrive gears in front and stock ratio HD in the back, those measure 24.81mm which is a very nice fit in the AX10 axles. Could you measure one of your lockers and gear assembly just so I can be sure that I don’t run in the same problem as with the Hot racing lockers?

Thanks in advance

Did you install the seal/spacer washer to shim the ring gear over a little bit???

The measurements were taken without gasket on the Hot racing lockers, but they are made to be used without them anyways.

Very cool Patrick! I had been putting off buying spools for my wife's and my wraith. Now I'm glad I waited. Going to order 4 now.

I'm measuring with a 43t gear on there and get 24.99mm.
But that isn't the important measurement because the bearing will cover up the part it rides on.

What you need to measure is from the face the gear touches on to the lip the bearing rides against. On my unit that is 15mm.

Do you have any feedback from people running them in the AX10 axles? Do they fit as well as in the wraith ones?
Thanks

I got my spools and they look great. I hate to be that guy but I have to say I really wish they came with the 2mm bolts that hold the ring gear on. The upgraded axial gears don't come with them and they are always the hardest to find in the screw bin.

Added an option for some M2x8 Screws for those that want them.
