Default Locked Up RC Straight Axles - OT Shafts

Locked Up RC is happy to announce our solution for those that are looking for a stronger, reasonably priced, replacement rear axle shaft for their AX10/SCX10.... our OT Shafts.

These are direct replacement shafts requiring no modifications to a stock vehicle.

Using a custom jig I have tested and destroyed over 40 shafts of varying design and material over the course of the last month. As far as bang for the economical buck goes these are the best combination out there and we think you will enjoy them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 2 now available!

Locked Up RC is happy to announce our second solution for those that are looking for a stronger, reasonably priced, replacement rear axle shaft for their AX10/SCX10.... our OT 2 Shafts. These shafts replace Axial part# AX30424 (axi0424)

Our OT 2 shafts are made of 1541H steel and offer a torsional tensile strength rating of over 160in/lbs. That is roughly 33% more than a typical stock shaft, which suffers complete destruction in the 120in/lb range. OT 2 Shafts also offer a higher yield strength while still retaining a good yield point and are a great supplement to our FI Spools.

We wanted to make these beefy everywhere so they will be a "tight" fit on stock SCX10 (narrow Axial) wheel hexes. They "should" slide right through a standard Axial Hex. If your shafts do not slide in we suggest lightly filing the inner part of your hex to get them through. A rat tail file or coiled sandpaper will do the trick. It is a tight fit but just barely.

With that beef comes less machine time and so they are a hair cheaper than our standard OT shafts! That beef also mean there is less torsional flex in them. Suffice to say when you hit the gas, these move out!!

Compared to our "Standard OT" version and an Axial standard straight axle:

No animals were harmed in the making of this product...

Replacements for Axial SCX10 . AX10 steel straight axle 6x104.5mm (2)

Nice work! I may have to get a set, the STRC ones just don't hold up.

The FI spool stood for Fricking Indestructible. What does the OT shaft stand for? Very nice product BTW .

My postage meter says 24g (about .85oz) for a pair.

I was actually having issues naming them. I didn't want to portray them as indestructible so I ruled out the usual herculean type names. I got pulled away for something else and when I sat back down at my desk the strength numbers were staring at me and the 33% got me thinking....

OT (One Third) sounded better than "33 Shafts" so ...

Think a set of wraith axles shafts will be next on line!? Not many options out for those!

I would not say next in line but I am looking into some options for them.

Flange is 6mm.
Not sure what the ID of a beef tube is.

From the ones I have that I just got it appears they are just over 6mm so it would barely clear I used my caliper and 6 moved in and out freely but not by much space I think I.D. is around 6.5mm to 7mm at the very most

.5mm doesn't sound like much but in this game .05mm can be huge... let alone .5mm.

I suspect the worst case would be you chuck it up in a drill and turn it down with some sand paper. <5 minute operation if it's even necessary.

Or "Off Topic," since you were pulled away from your RC work. BTW nice looking shafts.
