I was actually referring to someone that posted about a 900mah pack, that's just ridiculously big for a micro crawler. IMO even 450 is too big.

and yes Lipo has become the standard now that they are so cheap and easy to find. as far as the ESC having a LVC yes it does. just solder on your new battery plugs and you are good to go.

BTW as for batteryspace.com i cant say much about the battery you linked but i have ordered from them in the past. I used to get AA sized lipo cell batteries for my Xmods. I have no complaints with them

About how long does it take to charge a 350mAh 2S 7.4V LiPO?
I'm looking at getting some of these: http://www.valuehobby.com/product_de...d=7&item_id=89

Probably with this charger: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/imax-b6...-us-plug-35190

Thanks

That depends on how much charge is left in the pack, if you don't drain the battery completely like you shouldn't it will likely be a different length of time each charge. i think generally it should be less than 45 mins, I never really watch the clock when i charge everything up.

What kind of run times would be expected from the Trekker pack and will it fit on the rear tray?

Can we get this as a sticky please? this is easily the most talked about subject in micros and there is alot of useful info here. especially important when you consider many people getting into micros never had an RC or if they do they aren't micros

yikes 2A is way to much (10X whats recommended for that size) and i wouldn't recommend charging any lipo battery over 1C let alone a micro battery. I charge my micro lipos at .2A or .3A which is recommended and its fine.

sure you might get by charging at high rates a few times but one day your luck will run out and if you are still slightly lucky you will only damage the pack and not set anything on fire. at the very least its not healthy for the pack in the long term and decreases life and performance so why waste the $$?

Im not saying this because Im scared of the "mysterious Lipos" like many are but It seems to be the single most important thing i see when reading about charging lipos

to put it simply for any noobs reading. 1C is where the amperage charge rate is not more than the MAH ( capacity ) for example if you are charging a 2000 mah pack you can charge at 2Amp
if you have a 5000mah pack you charge at 5A
2200mah would be 2.2A

for my micro lipos around 200mah I charge at .2A for my 300mah i charge at .3A

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209187

http://www.rchelisite.com/lipo_batte...fety_guide.php

for those who are looking into getting lipo once you find the size you need ( usually under 250MAH for micro crawlers on the axle but some micro scalers can fit the bigger 360mah) i highly recommend getting a few extra ( at least 2 )
this way you can continue running while another pack chargers, you wont need big heavy packs that decrease performance and if one goes bad you have a spare

spoo76 is absolutely right. 2A is way too much. Go with his charge rates. They are spot on. Granted the packs are tiny, but you do not want one puffing and exploding. I had a 180 mah pack go off in my hand last year. They stink like all hell and it burnt the fawk out of my hand. In a split second the pack puffed, butterflied, the went off. Real quick. I mean, that was due to my stupidity, but none the less, charging that battery at 2A, you're asking for trouble. It would be ashame if ya burnt your work area or house down due to improper charging of a battery for a toy.

It's kind of ridiculous, but I use the stock mini crawler battery(7.2v 1100 mah). It fits in the cab nicely on my trekker. The cog is terrible, but I just use it for driving in snow and sand.

Just want to make sure I am on the right track. My trekker is on the way and am getting reafy to order some lipos. I've decided on the hk 2s 350 mah from the post above. Will these work well with my trail trekker? Does anyone know if these will be alright for the micro high roller I plan on getting? Thanks for any advice. These will be my first electric rc vehicles.

I don't have my trekker yet (RTR on back order at stormer's for $129!) but I am going to use some 1S LIPO's I made for my eflite MSR.

I'm using the bare zippy cells:
HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : ZIPPY 240mAh 20C single cell

and I followed this howto:
E Flite MSR High Capacity Custom 240maH Batteries Rev 02 - YouTube

And the awesome charger that comes with my MSR can charge FOUR of these at a time, and takes D Cells if you want to charge on the run. It's a trickle charge that takes over an hour, but given the usually run time of the Micro is about 20 minutes (from what I've read) on a smaller pack, I am guessing that the trucks will run for 30 minutes on these cells. That means 120 minutes of runtime if you cycle through 5 packs!
Celectra 4-Port Charger with AC Adapter Combo | Horizon Hobby

They are also light and CHEAP!

Edit: It's not a trickle charge, however, it charges at 150ma per battery because that is what the MSR comes with, so these cells charge about about .66c.

Just adding, I've been using the Novus CP 400Mah 1S batteries for my Crawler (have been since shortly after I got it a year ago). I just run two in series when I want 2S.

I can't find the Tenergy ones I bought a year ago, but these Great Planes ones seem to be the same ones (I've got 3 coming so I'll let you know).

I also saw some 600Mah as well I might just have to try out.

The nice thing about them is they snap into the rear tray and need no other means of retention (although I'm going to toss an o-ring on the back later just to be 100% safe.

Maybe you "skimmed" the topic because I've mentioned value Hobby multiple times and posted links ;) {edit} its even on this page 3 times!!!

again cheapest in the US I have found
180mah $3.20 GForce 20C 180mAh 2S 7.4V LiPO - 2S - 7.4V - Batteries - Power
350mah $4.50 GForce 30C 350mAh 2S 7.4V Lipo

Personally I would rather grab 2 or 3 of the 350s rather than some huge 400mah+ pack.
they have been great so far
