| Beadlocks?
So do these beadlocks work, or are they like the stock mrc wheels? if so is there a pvc pipe trick to convert them? |

I havent pulled them apart yet, but I'm sure you could convert just like the mini's. give it time, proline or one of the manufacturers here will come to the rescue in no time!

so the outer ''beadlock'' is screwed on to the wheel but the tire is just glued onto the rim?

The tire is glued, the beadlock is not. The tires pull off really easy, I pulled my front ones apart to wrap solder around the rim to give it weight. It looks like we can convert these to beadlock just like the Mini Crawler. I already put another set of rims and tires on order to experiment with.

i really like the metal pipe idea i just took all mine apart and cut notches in the foam, gives a much better footprint now, I also wrapped some thick lead solder around the wheel for some weight |

| Any chance of some pics of your cut foams? Or atleast a better description of what you did (how much you took off). I would like to try this but want to have a plan before i pull mine apart.

It seems as though weight in the wheels is needed for best performance. I'd love to see some steel wheels made by the aftermarket. Anyone try filling the tire halfway with metal BBs or tungsten shot? I'm in Bangkok so I won't get one of these for a few months as the mail is often lost or stolen. Wish Losi distributed in Thailand. |

I was thinking of using steel washers as beadlock rings. Drill holes in 'em and screw on.

Where are the answers? I'm actually having to post something. :-( Stupid question on the MINI rim conversion, do the lock rings extend radially past the bead area of the rim? (Which has bigger OD?) I know that you put a piece of pipe in there, and you now have a 4-piece beadlock that actually works, "shut up, just do it, it works", and also that "STFU and search noob!". I don't have a MINI, haven't done a conversion, and the tech in those threads was crap. The MICRO rim doesn't look promising to me. I mic-ed the Outside Diameters on the rim bead and ring: 1.056" rim 1.047" lockring We won't get off as easy as the MINI, not really seeing how we can get the bead clamped there with a simple pipe like the bigger one. If it could clamp, it should have already, adding to the OD probably won't help since we're already out past the ring. MICRO RockClaw Tire bead width lets call about 0.060" for a little squish Rim bead width 0.080" Tire bead clamp area lets call 0.040 outside (to sidewall), maybe 0.070 inside Rim bead seat depth 0.035" If we file the rim at mating surfaces of the ring, it would narrow the bead seat and we should be able to pinch the bead. If we cut down the rims bead we might be able to get some kind of pipe on the rims that would actually give us clamping surface under the rings? Or maybe we can find a pipe that could work for the extra bead clamping the rim is missing between 1.056" - 1.091" , but would that work with the 0.020" gap between bead and rings? Am I just missing the obvious? |

My thoughs are take a copper pipe (2in) and cut and shut it to fit snug aroud the rim. after cuting, you shut it with torch and soder. Tape could also work! |
