Show pics of where and what you are crawling...

I was going to go to the store and buy some Great Stuff foam but then remembered that we saved the Star Wars toy boxes from last Christmas. The packing cartons are working fine for a little crawling action. I'm sure the boy is going to try making a deal with craw time since he supplied the course.

pics of Lego and/or Duplo blocks with crawler
 

I'm sure some of you have kids.
Can someone put up pics of some Lego and/or Duplo (giant legos for infants) blocks next to their crawler?
I like the idea of a modular/reconfigurable course, I think building the course is just as fun as crawlin it.

Legos are freakin expensive when you consider you'd need a few thousand of them to make a big course so I haven't bought any yet.
From what I guess the Duplos would make the most sense as they are bigger but small enough to crawl over.
I also wonder how much grip Legos or Duplos would provide.
Obviously the blocks' sides are smooth which is a big concern but the tops have those round pins that may provide grip?

Before I drop a hundred bucks on Legos I'd like to see if it makes sense first.

Very nice! Is that just Styrene Foam? Have you tested it out with the Micro Crawler?

i dont have a micro crawler yet:( still saveing up:( im only 15:/ and the big part is styrine, all the other is cardbord layers, like a topigraphical map, damn i really want a micro craler:(

I stopped by my local Fleet Farm (tractor supply type store) and picked up some materials. I am using 1/4" plywood, spray expanding foam and liquid nails for glue. I start with the bare wood. Cut out some random shapes and glue them onto the board. I then take and squirt the foam in any arrangement I want. Then I headed down to the local Bedliner guy, then sprayed it with the "fleck" type (textured) paint. I used sand obviously to make it look a little more like real rocks. As you can see as the paint wears away, the bedliner shows more. NO signs of wear and tear on the formations. My tires are showing wear though.

Cool looking track.
Usually I think the bulbous foam looks bad, I like jagged rock formations.
Still, yours reminds me of a Hawaiian lava formation which is pretty cool.
Glad to know the paint holds up well.

Just finished my "Rock Quarry". I wanted it to be modular and light weight. The two sections are 1.5 x 3 foot. You can crawl from one module to the other and my boys love it. Their is a nice overhang that is fun to climb.

Rockwild that is insanely cool.. I was sitting here wondering how long until somebody is trashing big sculpted model train setups..and then I stumble onto your pics..Well done !

Do you think people will start breaking in to RIDE train setups like the skateboarders do with private pools when the owners are gone?

Foodstick: i was thinking like that when i walked my the train setup at my lhs...all i could think was "man i really would like to crawl that"

Take some colored thumb tacks, and make some gates with them. Instead of pulling the "gates" re arrange the boards to get a new course.

will the textured spray paint melt foam?
