Default Tires - sizes - alternates

Waiting on a couple gift certs from Santa to possibly get a micro.

Has anyone tried the soft urethane tires the guy in Winnipeg CA has on Ebay?
They area 48mm OD, 21mm wide, for an 18mm rim.

I have a set of those. They are just about exactly the same diameter as the stock tires, and a tad wider.

They are solid urethane, I'd guess the durometer is in the low 50's. Pretty soft for something like a skateboard wheel, but pretty hard for an RC tire. They'll have no flex to them at all on a light little rig like a Micro.

From a vendor standpoint, he's on point. Fast shipping and a well made product, just not quite suited for this application IMO...

The ones that come in this kit look really scale and they are actually kinda soft compared to other tires this size. I'm just waiting on a scale chassis and wheels to come out so I can use them. I'll see if I can get an up-close high-res shot of them. They look awesome.

If those are Aoshimas, they are the perfect size IMO. They're not too terrible compound-wise either.

Why wait? Use the chassis and wheels from the model kit.

I cut slots in the backside of the Aoshima wheels that came with my tires (for model kit use) so they fit over the Micro axle pins. The backspacing works out just about the same as the stock wheels, but the Aoshima wheels are a bit thicker, which leaves less threads for the wheel nuts...

good point, but as of now I don't own one for myself. I just bought one for my dad. I just figured that an X-trail type chassis would be better and more durable.

Oh, you don't have one you can just tear into?

I have seen one X-Trail type scale chassis for the Micro already. It was very well done and looked nice, but I thought the material choice was overkill. It looked like 4 times as thick as it needed to be.

I have to give youngblood credit for the chassis idea, I never would have even thought of trying it until I saw his build. One of those forehead-smacking moments.

I'm building an Aoshima Range Rover Classic, the frame rails from the kit fit right inside the stock chassis plates like it was made for them. I cut the stock plates down to fit and attached them to the sides of the kit frame with 4 #2 screws. I'll get some pics up when I have something besides my phone...
