Default another 4runner

First I have to say RPP's service truly rocks! Got my 4runner kit in yesterday and had to put it under the knife. Chopped off the rear cap and bobbed the new "bed" about a 1/4". I rested the cut off top back on and kind like it so it may go back on. I still have to make a more scale chassis and stretch the wheelbase.

You're off to a great start! What do the tires and wheels that came with the 4Runner look like?

Looking good cutlaSS. I like the way it looks in the pics. I think I would have to glue that top on it and run with it.

Dave if its the Aoshima kit like I built mine with, and I believe it is, it comes with some pretty sweet billet looking wheels and some swampers but they are kinda small compared to the stock Losi's.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Once I saw nascarkeith's runner, I knew I had to have one. I didn't want a carbon copy so I decided to copy a runner I've seen locally.

My work hours and family are taking up my time so this build is gonna be like watching grass grow. But future plans are a scale chassis, full exo, "tube" bumpers, sliders, and slightly enlarged wheel wells. Those are the PLANS, in hope they materialize. I'm still undecided about the "bed" and putting the cap back on.

BTW, nascar's right about the kit wheels and tires.

I'm glad my little 4-Runner was a good influence. I'm also glad you mentioned sliders. I knew mine was missing something.:?

Still waiting on my rod ends to come in but got alittle impatient so I lenghtened the stock links with tubing. I figured since this wasn't gonna be a "stock" runner and slightly long wheelbase would still be scale and should help performance. But with the tube links there is almost no articulation cause the links hit the shocks. And I still don't know what material to use for my chassis. Here's m one lonel pic.

I think I'm just gonna made the exo part of the body, no need to attach it to the chassis. Been looking around abit and like this design, probably gonna make a few changes.

How are you mounting it to the body?

I'll figure that out after I make the cage. Nah, I'll probably make standoff from the cage to the body then glue it on.I started the bottom hoop that would go around the body. I wanted to bend it from one long length of piano wire but was having a hard time getting the two side to match so made two pieces that will be soldered together in the center of the tailgate.

Not sure what you can do about the links rubbing on the front but check out how I triangulated mine in the rear. It got the links out of the way so it doesn't rub. Its looking good so far.

Yup, I thing triangulated upper link and the rubber band mod will help with articulation. None of the hobby shops around here have .060 styrene and I have .040 and .100 to make a chassis. I think with the weight of the Exo I might pass on trying to make an interior so the Runner doesn't get any more topheavy. Worked on the exo alittle tonight, diverted from the design I was gonna originally copy but I'm happy so far. Might also ditch/redesign the center hoop cause it would interfere with the front doors opening.

Well, like I said this build will be like watching grass grow. Worked on the runner for a little while last night and made a bumper. It's official my original inspiration for my exo is a out, just designing as I go.

Well, it's been a month since I even touched this truck. The other day I finally made my new links with Mini-T cups and I also made a scale chassis. I also managed to beak the shafts off two of the shocks, so I should have my completed rolling chassis finished when my shocks come in. Then on to finishing the exo, body and mounting them. hopefully I can get some finished pics by next week. Gotta finish this before I start working on my 1.9 and 2.2 for our TTC.

The wheels on the bruiser are MSD rock solids but will be replaced with 1.55s

I just order a set of six2 wheels for my micro from CAC.
