Default Hot Racing wheels,F&R hubs,& shock weights*better pix*

The Hot Racing parts finally came in from HobbyEtc.com
so I decided to snap some pictures as I swapped the parts and get the weights measured.
Ill give a review later but so far the parts look great and have a nice weight to them of course. The wheels are nice and solid and are cut for the stock wheel hex(which i cant seem to pop out).
The Phillips screws are ugly In my opinion,But the color is a nice contrast against the black (red & blue also available)
I hope to find some tiny silver colored Allen screws as the factory screws are the wrong thread and a bit thinner.
any way here are the pictures and weights.

23.3 grams ~ 1 Hot Racing aluminum bead lock wheel tire mounted with full foam and no wheel hex

10.4 grams ~ 1 Losi McRC factory wheel & tire mounted with hex

3.8 grams ~ 1 Losi McRC factory wheel with hex - no tire & foam (with bead lock & screws)

16.8 grams ~ 1 Hot Racing aluminum bead lock wheel with bead lock and screws mounted (no hex)

2.6 grams ~ 1 Hot Racing Aluminum shock fully assembled with screws and soft spring

1.8 grams ~ 1 losi McRC factory shock with ball studs

4.0 grams ~ 1 Hot Racing aluminum rear lockout assembled with factory bearings

3.5 grams ~ 1 Losi hub & outer axle with bearings

1.7 grams ~ 1 Hot Racing front hub/ C
0.8 grams ~ 1 Losi front hub/ C
*update* sorry for the pix but even with macro, super macro or any setting images are blurry even when on a mini tripod

What happened to the pix? I just picked up my micro today. Runs a little high and stiff in stock form. Gonna look at some mods soon.

the pix are pretty blurry because of this new lame camera
they are pretty big to help make up for it, waiting for photobucket to finish uploading

Does your camera have any kind of Macro setting? it usually has a flower icon for it. On mine it was harder to find.

Yeah macro really helps, if you look at a LOT of my pictures, they are macro or super macro(.4" away from the object) Look great though, how much are the bead locks? They look really nice and how do the parts help compared to stock(the lockout, shocks etc..)?

well aluminum weighs more and will help lower your center of gravity
so all the parts have that
The lock outs are thinner use less parts and stronger and if you want you can keep the stock spare parts to make rear steer on another micro

Please, clarify for me some parts with numbers that you ordered. The rear lockout (4 grams) is part number MCC2208. The hub/knuckle (1.7 grams) is part number MCC1908 (c-hub) and/or MCC2108 (steering knuckle). Did you have to buy both to change the steering end of the axle? If so, what is the weight of only the c-hub that attaches to the axle, stock vs. HR? I assume the 1.7 grams is for both c-hub and steering knuckle. Thanks for your info.

the rear lockouts come as a pair and just replace the rear hubs
You get the 2 hubs and replacement inner axle

the front steering knuckle also comes as a pair and is a direct factory replacement

as far as part # MCC2108 Im not sure where you got that from because i dont see it on the website

Ok i see where the confusion is, I just have the front hub, dont know why i called it the steering knuckle.
It wasnt listed on the hot racing site, it only seems to come up for me when i search Liquid RC.
I guess thats what i will order next

So, it seems that if we are wanting to add weight for traction and lower the COG, we should replace the stock rear c-hub with the HR c-hub to increase the added weight to 0.9 grams. That would add the 0.9 grams to all four corners, or 3.6 grams total weight, lowering the COG. The weight gain of the rear lockouts is only 0.5 grams. The c-hub at the rear would be an additional 0.4 grams over the lockouts at each corner. That may not seem like much, but every little helps, and the parts are the same price. Am I correct with my weight gain analysis?

good call.
yes the rear lockout does have less weight gain than just replacing the hub. I would guess because the rear lock out is one part and an axle shaft rather than the 2 with shaft. for something this small and light i doubt the extra strength is an issue but it would help shift weight forward wouldnt it?

for those doing comp every little bit helps but for me I like the fact the lockouts make it look more like a rear axle

Updated the pictures. Some are still pretty blurry even with super macro. it seems if you even breath the image gets blured
this was on a mini tripod and even the movement from pressing the shutter button would make things go out of whack :mad:

pics look a lot better! I have seen u and a couple others mention that the HR springs are too stiff, will the stock springs fit inside the HR shock bodies??

I think they may only be to stiff on the lighter setups tubers, scalers,or anyone with extra parts or alloy parts might be ok
The factory losi springs are a tiny bit thicker/wider so they wont fit

but you can easily cut off one or two turns of the spring and stretch them out to fit, or find springs from a cheap clickable pen
