There has been a lot of talk here about rewinding the motors with 80 or 90 turns. Rather than rewind a stocker has anyone thought about using a "speed" 180 with ferrite magnets? Was wondering if there were any issues with rewinding one of them? Maxx Products (MPI) has one (ACC3180) for $6.95. It has a 2mm output shaft. I plan to try it unless anyone here can tell me any reason why it might not work. Any ideas?

the shaft is not splined so the press on pinions wont work

Thanks! Do you know the specs on the pinion gear, maybe there is a source for a similar gear for press fit, or with a set screw.

I'm at work at lunch so I don't have my crawler to look at. Does anyone have a link to an image of the motor/pinion gear?

A SMALL dab of superglue will do the trick.

That motor is twice the length, almost 3 times as heavy, the shaft is .5mm larger and it is too big around to fit the stock trans. The smallest motor they have is longer and heavier. It would fit but I don't know if it is better than the BB II.

Now that is a show stopper... I thought I read the crawler used a 180 motor. Thanks for pointing out my incorrect assumption.

A couple thoughts. Could we make the "What and Where To Buy" thread a sticky? It'll be on page 4 soon.

Could someone edit the post to include the motor options. I have found the Losi 1751 motor, not sure if it's useful. But some are rewinding the BB2, and it took a while to figure out exactly what that was.

From what I can tell, there are several classes of 180 (B,D etc..). Makes it hard to decide what will fit while ordering. The lhs doesn't have much in that size either.

Anybody ever looked into slot car motors? They seem to be the same size and you can get all sorts of hopped up versions with good magnets.

I think the LMC uses a 130 sized motor.

i have 12 of those motors and they wont fit the micro tranny plate as its to big. you would have to dremel out the motor plate where the pinion go`s through and drill new holes for the screw`s apart from that it would be really fun with extra torque motor

Yeah even the 130 is too large. I moved my conversation over to the other motor thread. There I posted what I think the motor is with a link to the Mabuchi website. At least the dims seem to match fairly well.

on the splined just take your dremel & cut off wheel and cut grooves in and have some bandaids in hand
