interesting chassis design. I'm interested to see how the torsion arms hold up over time. But for the price range it would be nice and cheap to replace the chassis if anything happened anyways. I guess this means I will have to get another crawler to build up a comp style rig now |

Damn, I just got some wide mini hexes from y'all, I wish I'd known about this chassis. Excellent video (the Abusement Park looks fun) That little rig seems to really perform. I forgot I was watching a micro after a couple minutes. Looks like a whole lot of bang for the buck, and very simple as well. Good thinking... |

The tires are the Urethane resin copies of the So-Real Boggers with the inner lugs cut out, they are solid. They look good but are expensive on eBay, will soon have a local supplier for these hopefully at a reduced price.

Off topic and addressed to Dogbreath, where did you find that sweet little bug body at? I kind of want one, so I don't have to get any performance and still get cool scale-ish looks.

1. How about a review on the tires and not just a driveby but a "sqeeze and traction" test! 2. How do you think this torsion chassis rates agianst the Ripper or any other chassis you've tested? | |

That's an easy one..... Tires: The urethane tires do NOT compete with a weighted stock tire, while they are sort-of soft, they are solid. Therefor they do not conform to the face of the rock....result? Lost traction. And being solid they add as much weight above the axle as they do below it......for the price they charge on eBay for them I would say buy a new set of stock tires with rims, remove the foams, add 1/4 full of lead shot and add a lead wrap around the wheel....this combo can't be beat right now. Torsion Vs Raptor: Not an easy comparison, like comparing apples to oranges. Both are great chassis, but do different things, it will all boil down to personal preference and budget. And since I have done reviews on both chassis I suggest you read them both and form your own opinions.....I did these reviews for two friends and would be a conflict of interest to say one is better than the other. It also would be hard for me to decide which is "better" The Raptor uses shocks and spring in an inboard mounting system and is bodiless ....the DP uses torsion bars instead of shocks and uses a body....both are very capable chassis' and both will handle all the obstacles at my test track. I have found that the biggest factor in these crawlers is picking the right line and having good weighted tires. Last edited by Dogbreath; 03-26-2010 at 06:23 PM. |

A couple of additional notes: #1 This chassis set-up is extremely light! I never thought to weigh the components over the last couple of days, but today we were running and got to wondering about why the chassis worked so much better than the stock chassis and weight came into the conversation so we did some comparisons. DP Torsion Chassis 4g Stock chassis with shocks, upper links and balls 20g So with the DP chassis you are saving around 16g....over half an ounce! That is huge weight for the size of vehicle....and its all weight above the axle line, so the DP really lowers the COG! #2 We did quite a bit of running today (7-8 packs) and we did notice that the truck runs much smoother with the DPT chassis, the suspension doesn't flop around like the stock chassis with droop shocks. The torsion arms act as springs in both directions, this make the truck float over the obstacles. #3 Running a chassis with no shocks allows a lot more room both in front and in the rear for battery and ESC placement.....I can now tuck my battery all the way under the body! |

They were supposed to be up today, if the shipment reached the store. If not then I would look at Monday. A shot of the DPT chassis with a Bronko mounted in Comp form Last edited by Dogbreath; 03-27-2010 at 08:30 PM. |

I will definately be picking one of these up. A few questions though... (I will still buy one regardless of the answers) 1. Do you think your car performs as well going back to a shorter wheelbase? 2. You were talking about different settings but I don't see any way to adjust this chassis. 3. Which lipo pack do you use? (your 7.2) |
