The Eclipse

Well I decided I wanted to make a chassis that resembled a real buggy. This sounded easier than it was, unlike other scales I'm really stuck with a limited amount of parts and setup options.

Ignore the badly hand cut styrene panels, those were last minute.

I can't drive it just yet, I need to extend the drive shafts.

Nice work Lance!

ripper7777777 04-28-2010 12:34 PM

Thanks everyone, this is still just a proto-type and is yet to be tested, but tonight I will pick up some aluminum to extend the shafts and give this thing a test run.

I do plan to sell them in a complete kit or as a cheaper side plate replacement for people who already own the Micro Raptor.

Well I'll shoot some vids and take some pics once I get it out on the rocks.

Look's really good, I like the longer wheelbase. Will be anxious to see more. "thumbsup"

2 questions, 1: will the links come with it? 2: are your wheels white in this pic?

The links are from the Mini-t so no I won't supply those, you can get them locally or through Horizon, I've seen them a lot cheaper at other vendors.

I know I commented that i didnt like the look of the raptor too much ,but i like this look alot more and doesnt look as tall witch I like .but sorry im still looking for a more gc3 style chassis to come out . but I will only wait so long then I may just buy this chassis instead. good job "thumbsup"

Stampedekid 04-28-2010 02:15 PM

Man, Lance that chassis actually looks really cool. I like the looks a lot better than that of the Raptor "thumbsup" Any test runs on this prototype yet? Also the name suits it!

gopher 04-28-2010 04:07 PM

ya, the scale look is smooth, pricing is what will sell me on anything with these little trucks, hard to justify to the wife the cost most of the time :s

ripper7777777 04-29-2010 09:14 AM

No test runs yet, should get it out on the rocks today, had a few orders to get out and a Gmade R1 came in yesterday, time to move the Scorcher over and find some room so I can start building another truck.

Haha...wait until you see the pics from his testing...."thumbsup"

ripper7777777 04-30-2010 07:36 PM

For some reason I thought I had posted thiese today, man I need some sleep....

Well the wheelbase seemed a bit long at 5"s so I reduced the chassis by .25"s and now it seems to be about right. It was a visual thing, it drove just fine at 5"s.

I added some spacers to the body panels to give them a bit of dimension.

It's raining here off and on so my outside time is limited. It drives really well, I like the added wheelbase, but now I need some rear bent links.
