| Specs for charging stock battery on aftermarket charger
Hello, What settings should I be using to charge the LOSB0848 4.8v NiMH 150mAh battery on an aftermarket charger? I took apart the broken charger I received and cut the leads off and clipped them to my Onyx 230 and Venom Pro. I don't use NiMH batteries in my other setups and have never charged anything this small. So far I set the capacity to the 150mAh on the charger and have fluctuated 0.1-0.5a charging. I mistakenly charged it once at 5.0a and I'm sure caused irrepairable damage; however I have a 180mAh 2s lipo in the mail. I'd appreciate any information that is passed on. |

I wouldn't charge it at over .2 amps. But since you charged it at 5 amps, you should probably just chunk it as I'm sure it's dead now.

Actually, when i received my micro charger connection from losi in the mail, there was a sheet inside the package that read something like : "DO NOT CHARGE 150mah LOSI MICRO BATTERY IN EXCESS OF 0.6 AMPs"... so Ive been charginng mine at 0.6 with a 200mAh cutoff and it hits 150mah in 16-20min every time... perfect setup... 0.15 would take forever.... 5A probably destroyed it... but at least you have a lipo in the mail! |

Seems as though the one I fried lasts longer than the replacement 150mAh I just received, although I can tell the replacement has better output initially. Looking forward to the lipo!

Which one of these is the proper charge lead? Great Planes Charge Lead w/Banana Plugs & HeliMax Micro Plug or DuraTrax Charge Lead with Banana Plugs and Mini Plug |

Hey, old school is fine with me... that calculation usually works well for charging, just trying to explain what losi recommends and what works for me yes, the losi OEM 4.8v 150mah nimh pack @ 0.6 amps on my onyx 230 works great for the lipos I have no idea, thats for someone else to tell you |

Why the 200mAH cutoff for a 150mAh battery?

b/c with the charger I have, it should find the battery's peak well before the mah cutoff, so you set it about 10-20% high to make sure it doesn't quit charging too early...

I think with lipos you are doing well to stay at 1C unless told otherwise. With NiMH you could go higher within reason. If the stock battery charges in 15-20 minutes off of other batteries any setting that replicates that time frame will be fine. |
