johnny's beer can body tmc: New Video

TMC Chassis
Stretched wb 4.75" (aluminum tube over threaded rod with Micro T ends)
BWD Vertex with Rok Lox
Get Bent's 80t motor
Traxxas servo
16oz Beck's beer can for the body.
I'm on my 2nd esc, I still need to shrink wrap this one.

Besides the beer can body I think the only new mod here could be the Micro T ball ends. I drilled each one out so I can get the .05 hex in there.
After I cut the first set of links I wanted to test them and move them around, this made that a heck of a lot easier.

This thing is an unstoppable micro monster!
Sorry for the bad pics.

Looking good, Nice to see some more TMC's showing up.

Once you streched the W.B. they are alot more capable & fun to drive.

My dad loves that!
I have two questions for you how do you like that motor and did you just paint the servo?

Thanks

Traxxas uses 2 colors of plastic, blue plastic for the waterproof servos and black plastic for the non-waterproof.

Getbent's 80 t is awesome!
on stock nimh it is so smooth and controllable but a little slow.
On 2s lipo it's perfect. Loads of usable torque and wheel speed. It feels like you're driving a tractor or bulldozer... you can feel the power!

Thanks T-buck, you're the one that started the craze! Once I saw your stretched TMC I knew I wanted a micro!

I actually finished this a few weeks ago but it's been so much fun I haven't had time to post it up here. I think I'm going to redo the body panels. I cut these before I stretched the wb so the hood doesn't fit like it should and It's getting a little bent out of shape from 3 weeks constant use!

ped453 01-04-2011 09:57 AM

that is the coolest i've seen yet"thumbsup" good job man

DSchulten88 01-04-2011 10:08 AM

 Damn.. That's nuts, I just started work on an "Old Chub" body for my TMC... Thought I was gonna be unique..

Sick though! Glad to see it's not a bad idea. Great way to get graphics on small body panels "thumbsup"

That rig looks awesome. I just bought the same one. what did you use to stretch the Driveshafts. and from center of wheel to center of wheel is what?

dockman 01-04-2011 06:24 PM

Crawler looks good, I like the panels. But why use Beck's?? There are much better beer's out there.

My LHS was out of the Aluminum tube for the driveshaft so I ended up just buying another set of driveshafts and used the female part as an extension of the exsisting driveshafts. I just cut them with a tube cutter then CA glued them onto the old ones. I did get some glue in the shaft which made the male part fit to snug. I had to reem the heck out of it with whatever I could find. I may redo them using the aluminum sleeve method everyone else has used.

Agreed! I actually can't stand Beck's, or any pilsner for that matter.
My brother in law brought it over and I was ceaning up after he left and thought it'd make good body panels.
I think I'm going to try Guinness next!
I'm about to open it right now ;-)

DSchulten88, I haven't heard of Old Chub but it looks good. I like Scottish Ales and the darker the better!

@ped453, thanks man "thumbsup"

I thought a beer war was about to break out. How bout Yuengling. Actually I think Guinness would make the best looking body.

I was wondering when you would post up some pics of your rig. Looks great! I like the idea of drilling out your rod ends for access and the panels look really good on there too. Glad to hear the motor is working well for you, and that you're having fun with it!

Funny story about Old Chub... It is a Scottish Ale, and it's nice and dark, comes canned even, and rolling in at a fatty 8% alcohol by volume consuming three of them will have you looking for a bed.. or a pantry to raid ;) . I'm pretty sure it's one of the micro brews from here in Colorado.

I dig the wing-type things on the back. Makes it look fast and capable..

Stormin2u 01-06-2011 08:35 AM

That looks great nice work.

i luv duct tape 03-04-2011 01:59 AM

you should do that with a monster energy or rockstar can

DRV KRAWLER 03-04-2011 07:15 AM

Man, that is sweet ! I hope the beer was flowing, so you had plenty of back up materials.

Fungi 03-04-2011 08:30 AM

Nice work! I like that you didn't put on those cartoonish miniqlo tires on it! Um... But I drink bottled beer. lol

johnnyh66 03-04-2011 10:34 AM

ahh, my lil baby.
Thanks guys, glad you like it.
It's been sitting for a while now, I've thought about selling it.

I'm mostly working on a SCX 10 now... I love the tinkering aspect.
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial-scx-10/301931-buxom-melons-class-2-vw-beetle.html

I did just buy the BWD wideners though.
I also have a new micro project in the works, still gathering pieces.
