| Got the Micro Eclipse chassis!
I received the 7R7 Micro Eclipse chassis, it's cool! I was calculating the length of the new lower links. I cam up with 0.335" (8.5mm) longer than stock. I believe the spacing on the stock chassis for the upper is 1.220" (31mm) and the spacing for the Micro Eclipse to be 1.89" (48mm) so the new lower links should be 48mm - 31mm = 17mm then half that 8.5mm would be the length you add to the stock lower link length to retain the same axle angle (clocking?) as stock... Well that's the plan anyway. lol

Thanks for the info. I am working on the links for mine right now. I'm not sure i will get that technical, but it will give me something to go off of. Thanks! |

Here's the pic. I'm still trying different shock positions. It's fun so far. The rear does hit the upper links like others have reported. The WB is 4.65" to 4.80" depending on ride height. |

Here are the changes I plan to implement to my purchased chassis. I will cut it from 0.063" thick ABS with my laser. |

Actually while I'm waiting for my material to arrive I am going to make additional changes. I'm going to add more shock crossmember support holes to allow lowering them. I will also calculate the dimensions to ensure it's to scale for a 3" driver. (1:24th scale 6' dude) |

Got the material samples in and decided Delrin was better looking than ABS so I used it. Here is a pic of the result. With the changes it no longer hits in the rear. However the only way to use the inner shock mount holes on the rear is to use the lower shock crossmember holes I added. Still much work to do. That's it for now. |

Looks good nice changes, but why did you buy the chassis in the first place when you have the tools to make one yourself? I would be making all sorts of stuff if I was you if I had access to a laser cutter.

Lasers pretty busy, but it's fun to make cool stuff every once in a while. I plan to make my own design, but I got the Eclipse cause it looked like a good jump-start. It's a fun chassis to play with. I just got 4 of these crawlers, more of an engineering/design challenge. Just a diversion from my other hobby.

I know that you want to make your own chassis, but you can make the 7R7 chassis to work with the rear links as well. All you need to do is pull the rear tray off of the axle, cut the tabs off for the current ball ends, drill a new hole in the side of the plate (right in between where the two smaller mounting screws go) and screw the ball end into the tray. You will not need, or be able to reuse the 4 small screws to reattach the tray. The ball ends will hold it in place just fine. I will try to get a picture posted up, if my description didn't make sense.

The owner of the business is on the forum, but I have not seen him in this section for a while.
