By far the best looking micro scaler I have seen yet! The bar has been raised!

Default A couple of chassis questions

Killer build first off. You have this thing nailed, so I'm gonna pick your nugget about a few things....... If you don't mind? I intend to convert my Trekker, Miclaws and it's 130 can motor over to this chassis and build a 1st Gen Toyota Hilux out of it.

1. Have you found the wheelbase hampering? Wide turning radius?

2. How is the suspension working out? I occasionally come across comments about axlewrap with the leaf springs. A traction bar seems doable if so, the big ass tires won't do the leafs any favors. Should I order an extra set of leafs for breakage? They seem to be thin and a consumable part.

3. How is the travel and articulation with it? I expect it'd be way more stiff and limited compare to shock/link suspension. I'm not looking for mad flex with mine.

Thanks for an inspiring build!

1. While the W.B. is a little longer I still get pretty good turning radius... Nothing that I can complain about.

2. For axle wrap... Leave on the bottom links. I haven't broken any leafs as of yet...(never hurts to have extra parts though)

3. Articulation is somewhat limited compared to (comp style) rigs... You will get plenty of flex for scaler rig, especially if your running mini-qlo's.

Thanks T-buck! You've helped me decide on this chassis.

I tried this with my 1/24 Longed Toyota pickup. The 5.5 is too long for 1/24, try 1/20 as that chassis was designed for that scale.

I'm ordered Lindberg body, so I have one little question! How long is this chassis (SMC 5.5) ?

Its right in the name and the description on the main page
the SMC 5.5 allows for a 5.5" - 6" wheelbase

yeah, but spoo, he was asking about chassis length ... the WB will be shorter than the chassis.

nikeridesbikes - if the WB is 5.5-6" factor about 2-3" additional length ... so, and I'm guessing based on the parts used ... the chassis will be around 7.5-9". That model will aslo have around 1/4-1/2" overhag of the chassis front and rear.
I would guess it to be a good fit, but for the real answers PM Blade as he's the guy that makes these puppies.

I would wait until you get the body, then measure the wheelbase and decide from there. I say the 5.5 is too long for 1/24, mine was.

Hey, I know this build has been around for awhile... Would you mind showing some pictures of how you attached the body?
