Default Trekker, My Build So Far...

Alright guys, here is my build so far. Since I got it, I have put on HR aluminum shocks, and have relocated the esc and battery. I also got a blue Rubicon hard body. Well, here it is!

First the Trekker in stock form

Then the addition of the HR aluminum shocks and blue Rubicon body mounted, taken out for some fun...

Next, relocated the esc and the battery. Picking it up in the center has a pretty 50/50 weight distribution.

Now, one of the main purposes for the esc and battery relocation, the new TJ body I stumbled across...

This is set to be mounted, but in case you didn't notice in the chassis pic above, I need to ds tape my esc back onto the tray. Once I get that done, I should be able to mount the TJ body.

And finally, some new shoes for the Trekker. LD Racing 8trax with RC4WD Rock Crushers.

Still need to be weighted and glued before install!

No worries man. I am not too familiar with Jeeps and am just now learning more about them. I know more about cars. lol

Anyway, I found this body at Marshall's of all places! It was in their little toy section and I don't even think it belonged in the box it was in, as the box was torn to pieces. Funny what you can find in the most random places.

I have to say though, ever since I got the Trekker I have been addicted to finding bodies for the rig. I was pretty happy with the Rubi, but the want to search for more is still going!

Marshalls?? Ok, didn't check there...

Yeah, even the New Bright at Toys R Us that they call 1/20 isn't...on a real CJ7, YJ and TJ, it's 80" from the front of the door to the tailgate, the NB at TRU worked out to about 1/16 and was way too big. The stock Losi tires looked like economy spares!

Guess I'll start looking in some of those out of the way places!

Soft mounted the body with velcro and put on the wheels and tires.... unglued.

It actually didn't crawl half bad with the tires unglued. Sorry, didn't get any trail shots. I still want to put weight in the tires and need to get some bb's. Will copper bb's do fine? Doing a rough estimate, 3 copper bb's weigh about 1 gram.

Looks good. A 1/2" more wheelbase would set the wheels just right in the wheelwells.

I was thinking that same thing... just a tad more! Need some links.

Snapped a couple more as I mounted the spare tire.

That looks really good - extend the links like mentioned, maybe add wideners...no wait, don't do that...then you'll like it too much and you won't switch up bodies!

Pretty bitchin' build. Typical Jeep tho, mismatched spare! J/K......

Don't you just love being a grown man and carrying a toy around to go play? My neighbors probably think I'm 'special needs' as much as I'm out driving my micros around!

Yeah, I wonder what the rest of the employees at my building think? They just don't understand the hobby. I'm slowly getting one of my buddies here at work into it. Hopefully he'll jump in a get one soon.

lol, the mismatched spare kills me a bit! I just need to find a single 8trax and rock crusher. Damn wheels are out of stock on rc4wd though. I suppose I can run the black delrin one...
