Sweet Jesus!!! I'm trying out Belray's waterproof grease. I haven't put any time on my crawler since I lubed the bearings and gears, but the axles did feel smoother (albeit a little harder to turn) once I packed everything with grease. Belray's grease will lube the gears and seal the bearings. Or you can use lithium grease. |

dab of lucas Red N' Tacky is all you need. I put a small bit in. I also packed my LCC axles with it.

Got some Teflon grease here at work. Packed the rear with it. Still waiting on the new guts for my front to arrive. the rear was still just about perfect, weird how that works... |

Are your front tires weighted more than your rears?

THAT'S NASTY! I'm thinking we may need some steel driven gears now ... I'm afraid to open mine ... but I do have two spare axles (look new inside) and a spare gear set if I need. |

Hope this will fix it.. I want to find a way to weight the axles and not the tires. rid myself of gear destroying rotational weight. |

Steel axle cases would work ... sadly they cost as much as the car ... per side. I've been thinking on the same issue, how to pull weight from the wheel and put it on the axle. My front wheels on my last update have about half the weight my first posted updates did. Would be sweet though, steel cases, C's and knuckles ... or brass but that would likely be too soft for an axle case. |

How about wrapping the axle housing with solder? Or if you were really ambitious, bore out the axle housing some more, fill it with solder (or some other low melting temp metal. Kind of like casting a new axle tube, but leaving the mold on), and then drill out new holes for the axle shaft and bearings. You could add some serious weight to the axle and the metal would strengthen the axle housing.

I use Mobil1 synthetic grease in my diffs. It's automotive grease, and thick, but a small dab does the job and no stripper glitter in my diffs.
