| HR Main gear case. Bling bling or a must have?
I had the binding trans problem, like everyone else. I did the mod to the plastic case where the bearings sit. Now.... the binding is gone, but everything is wobbly as heck. I don't like it. Would this fix it? Hot Racing Losi 1:24 Micro Crawler RC Car upgrades and Hop-ups Or, is it all show and no go? |

While blingin', it helps alot when a powerful motor is used because of tranny gear deflection. The plastic case is more flexible than you'd think. Now if we could get alloy trans gears made.

Just bling unless you are really hard on your stuff. I never really used aluminuim cases/gears on anything I ever owned.

Definitely worth the $18. I didn't think the binding issue was such a big deal until I gutted my old trans and installed everything in the new case. I found one of the top shaft bearings was so bad the dust shields had come out of the bearing case! When I put everything in, not only did my trans still click, but the spur was wobbly as hell. I took a video of it and you can see it here: Losi Micro Crawler :: MVI_0636.mp4 video by Hondahead88 - Photobucket After swapping in some parts from a different crawler, the trans is smooth as silk, as seen here: Losi Micro Crawler :: MVI_0637.mp4 video by Hondahead88 - Photobucket Below is the bad bearing. Guess this is what happens after 8 months of abuse and Predator power on MiClaw grip. |

A must have! I have cured all my binding woe's. In fact, I had a new losi plastic trany I was using and it was smooth as silk. I pulled the trany one day later and it already had small spots of binding. Swapped in the case and all better. I think it was Dogbreath that figured this out a long time ago...props dude! |

Yeah I didn't believe it until I actually saw it for myself. Definitely a must have!

But to directly answer...yes I would. Best $18 to spend on a micro. Worst case scenario...keep a close eye on the trany and the moment it starts to bind up order the case! | |

There are 3 mods I would recommend for anyone who wants the bare minimum: Li-Po HR tranny case E-Flite S75 servo The Li-Po give you plenty of power if you're just having fun, the E-Flite is far stronger than stock but won't break the bank, and the trans case will keep everything smooth. This would be on top of all the free stuff like moving the battery, flipping the transmission, decase the ESC, and moving the shocks inboard. |

In my findings, the 1st time the drivetrain gets cooking, that's when the binding starts. The plastic case gets gooey and deforms.
