My Scale Suzuki Samurai build

My losi micro crawler samurai scaler has been my project for the past month
and i think it really works and looks realistic (even has a little tighter front end (still has all the flex) from the steering mod i did..
so i started with the stock micro crawler instantly took out the springs and made some lights using two nice leds i had

i ordered a 1/24 scale Suzuki Jimny model off ebay and got to work!

The truggy was cool and all but I got a real samurai and I and thats kinda what i wanted to
lean more towards on this build
later I cut the back part of the bed off to extend extend it to match the length.

I wanna get a key string pully thing like someone said for the winch but dey hard ta find?!
i drilled some washers to weight the tires and got the lipo in there

ordered some boggers from rc4wd! i put the stock tire foams in them and their soft but nice and chunky still. o yea i cut the springs and put them back on too

just got in metal gear servo! stock one sucks, sorry to say it losi

i cut the other 3 arms off the horn and mounted the servo a little higher with only two screws in the middle holes. looks good seems to work fine

then made a new tie rod that looks real (metal/and stabalizer)
wasn't to happy with the boggers rubbing on my top links (no spacers) with the thing set to minimum turn dot.
so i built little spacers for the top shock mount and bent the links in! nice turning again
no spacers!

Proper job mate, I'm trying to create 2 honchos. You could try the Delrin chassis, it does away with the chunky upper links and shocks and springs and gives more articulation too. I bought mine for my trekker from thetoyz.

I like it though very much. I've just bought by mistake I think a landrover body, think its too short for the trekker but would be right for the crawler. It's
Haynes build your own landrover, Haynes being a Brittish company you may need to source via eBay but it does look good, real good.

that looks badass! I love Samurais and I was looking at the same kit on ebay. lol! glad I didnt get it. looks like Im going to need to go 1/20 scale.

thanks! yea ive been using it and the boggers dig and grip way better than the stock ones. and yea the size of the body is a little smaller than what i wanted but a crazy 4link samurai with 40 inch boggers and some beefed up axles would look basicly like this :shock:! gunna change the steering link to look more real with stabalizer and what not soon too

put was messing around today and setup the cut stock body as an alternate for the samurai!
no messing with the sammy but i really like the look of it and i preforms alot better with less weight!

so enough messing with the comp body and back to scale!
I had to make an easy to use light system. So first step...DUHH I had to set up some lights...
I used: 2 LED's
4 wires
1 3v button cell and holder
1 electrical connector
soldered up and got it running for night runs!

so i recently bought a box o' part that someone was selling on ebay
and it had some nice parts.
so i put on the HR shocks after i softened them up a bunch with the lighter and it loosened them up to be good at full droop
threw a set of aluminum steering knuckles on. ---> i noticed that they don't
fit properly with the stock inner beadlocks so i just took them off in front for now so i think ill shave down the little ridges on the inside circle so they fit again.

I was bidding on that same box! Lucky you for getting it, the price went out of my budget.

so that's who got it ... I got the other one (parts box) and the raptor chassis'd crawler he was selling.

That Sammy's looking good, I used to drive an '88 ... always wanted an LWB.

yea im happy with the parts and the box was nice too... finnally got my crap organized. wow Rockfrog you really got the whole package! i was looking at that crawler! is it as good as it looked? o yea and madjones i agree the headlight are one of the coolest mods you can do to a scaler for sure!"thumbsup"
and does anyone know how the 56t aluminum gear works? is there a review?

I've got the 56T from HR. Works great, just pop off the clutch and stick it on (and reset the gear mesh on the pinion). It definitely improves your torque. I noticed a difference when I was still running a Ni-MH pack. I think the stock spur is only like 48 or 49T (I don't remember off the top of my head, maybe someone else does), so it's a good leap.

Someone else here said they were using a 59T from a Micro SCT/Rally. I'm going to try that one out once some bills are paid.

i love my 56t.
anything bigger than stock though will give u more torque.
get your self the brass pinion setup too. on my 2000kv 5g brushless im running the
14t pinion and the 56t spur. not overly fast but crawls awesome.

ummm ya that sounds good with the 14! i think the stock spur are plastic also right? where do i get those 14 metals? Eventually i want to get rid of most plastic parts and make it a true beast!

Ebay has everything.
just search micro crawler gears and it should all come up.

And get the alloy trans case.
