The stock ESC has Li-Po cutoff and will stop running the motor when the battery is dead so you don't over discharge it. Not sure what you mean by full speed. It won't burn up the ESC or motor if that's what you're asking. I've been using a 7.4V Li-Po for a few months now and have had nothing but success.

^^^The steering will work but the motor will not turn. That is what happens when the Li-Po cutoff is engaged and you need to recharge your battery.

When it stops running unplug the battery, let it cool down a bit. It might be warm to the touch. Then charge/balance it. What size lipo are you running? make sure that the charger you are using is able to charge lipo.

People seem to like this one a lot for a cheaper charger: Thunder AC6 Smart LiPo

I have a MRC Super Brain 992 Palm and love it: MRC Super Brain 992

I use a hyperion EOS 0606i and really like it ... it a 12V only charger so you'd have to hook it up to a battery or a power supply if you wanted to plug it into the wall. I have plenty of 12V Batteries so it's not a problem for me. Got mine a while back from cheapbatterypacks.com
