Default Anyone cut there trekker chassis down?

Was thinking about cutting the chassis just in front of the shock mounts.

Is there gonna be any disadvantages to this other than not being able to mount the body on?

If you want a shorter chassis, just pick up an McRC chassis. You will lose some rigidity in the front as well because the front brace will disappear. The McRC chassis is steel so it won't flex.

Good point. I wasn't wanting to shorten the chassis just wanted to relocate the battery to the front. With the stock chassis there isn't enough clearance to mount it on the servo.

A smaller battery would help. Good time to upgrade to a Li-Po!

I'll try the Li-Po first before changing the chassis. Thank ya sir.

I have never cut my frame, however, I did drill a bunch of holes in it. It seemed to help some. I only drilled the highest rail and left the lowers alone.

I found the delrin chassis from the toyz pretty good on my micro crawler. Got a trail trekker coming in almost bought one for it, until I thought it wont be enough this time.hehehe

Just tried a Lipo on my McRC w/90t from Danally and am very impressed! Crawling performance is now worlds above the factory NiMh set up. Also widened the rims, changed the springs, moved the electronics/battery and added some lead on the axles.

Ordered a set of chassis plates for my Trekker because I'm gonna cut the top rails back and don't think the slight loss of rigidity will be noticable on such a lightweight set up. Can always add a small crossmember if needed. Maybe can just bend the top rails in and tie them together with a bolt/nut or two.

Working on some larger tires, for the small factory rims, to gain some ground clearance/approach angle since I seem to have gotten in on the Micro Crawler scene too late to get Miclows. Don't really want to have the monster size mini wheels on my Micro.

Have some Super Swampers ordered. Clipped every other lug on the OEM ATs and got good results over the Losi Claws. Would like to have some of the sticky Losi Claws that were taller. Haven't found any Miclaws yet.
