Default Trekker with bwd wideners doesnt work?

I just read somewhere that BWD wideners don't work with the trekker (they are for the micro crawler only?)
Well I just ordered a trekker AND bwd bead locks and wideners!!!

Does anyone have any insight into how to make this work for me?
Thanks for this site I have learned so much about these crawlers before I even bought one!!!

Thanks!!!
Kyle

they won't work, if you use the stock wheels you CAN use the wideners with stock hexes but the wideners and BWD wheels on a trekker is a no go

Yes they will work, just don't use the stock wheel hexes and use BWD stuff out from the drive pins. I use them on my Trekker with the standard wheel nuts, not the barrel nuts (they are too long to properly tighten the wheels down.). The "problem" with the Trekker axle stubs is the threaded portion length, the shoulder on the crawler shafts is much shorter (longer threaded portion), allowing the barrel nuts to fully seat.

Good to know, I didn't even think to try using a regular nut, got caught up trying to use the barrel nuts.

Granted, there's not much thread, but enough to cinch the wheels down. If worst comes to worst, the barrel nuts can be cut down halfway and used. I kind of take it as a personal challenge to make things work that are said not to, or at least try.

you'll also need hexes and o-rings for the McRC stubs, if you use the Trekker hexes you'll need a barrel nut. And the o-ring is there to keep the inner axle in place (the McRC axles set includes stubs, oirings, and inners). pins, bearings, etc ... are the same for both cars.

edit - OOOHHH, now I see where you were meaning to go ... yeah, no need for hexes then, but you will need to make sure you add the o-rings when you get the McRC stubs.

but really, you're not going to see much extra width (IIRC it's the same) by using McRC stubs and wideners than you would just mounting to the trekker stubs.

They go between the inner axles and the stubs on the McRC ... not sure if the Treeker still uses them (don't have one, but the stub cups are made differently).

Part #LOSB1712

I'm guessing that's why some people have had issues with axles popping out on the McRC ... no o-rings ... they usually try to run off when you remove the stubs the first time.

edit - just checked the Trail Trekker diagram and they show them there as well so I would guess they use them also ... although after reading several retarded pages about what motor is what last night ... the TT diagram could be wrong, or is it Losi that's wrong since I got the diagram from Horizon

I'm running my wideners and wheels on my trekker...I run a 1/8" thick alum spacer between the barrel nut and the wheel. The hex on the barrel but ends up sitting flush with the front of the wheel. I'll try and get a pic up in the next day or two.

Crazy man, I've locked out 3 Crawlers and a Trekker and never come across the O-
rings.....

All three of mine have them, all bought used from differing sources, and all my spare axle sets included them.

I'm reviving this instead of making a new thread. Last night I lost one of my barrel nuts (it still might show up, but my hope are not high. I did find my tire thank god. It rolled down the hill and over a storm drain and didn't fall in thank god. I was putting a fresh zip tie on my ESC and didn't notice the tire fall off and roll away) to my BWD wideners and I don't really want to buy another set of barrel nuts because this is not the first time they've backed off. I was thinking of using Trail Trekker stubs so I can use a proper lock nut instead of the barrel nuts. Is there enough thread to engage a lock nut or not? If worse comes to worse I can just Loctite a standard M2 nut on instead. Thanks!
