Actually no it was a coincidence. The issue is the multi material 3D printer is over the top expensive. This was an attempt to get two colors using a single color machine. ;)

Here is a couple images of some dual wheels.

How are you going to connect the two pieces?

If you are going to make a two part wheel, have you thought about doing multiple offset, with one set of wheels? If you recessed the space between where the hub meets the rim, and make mounting points there, you would just rotate the hub to get two different offsets. You might not be able to do more than 1/8" or so before sacrificing look, but the extra adjust-ability would be a big plus IMO.

Reading this back, I'm not sure if my idea is clear. I can't articulate it with words any better, but if you need a pic or something, I could sketch something up. It would be very simple, and if you are open to design changes (maybe a more utilitarian type "dish" wheel) I think you could work in 3 or 4 offsets in one wheel set without changing out any parts.

WOW!!!! i love the 2 part wheel design! i think that would be awesome and lets the user customize the colors of each part!

The two part wheel prototype was a failure. I had some issues finishing the parts that resulted in extra support material being stuck to the parts. It was my first print so I will try again later.

The one piece rims are awesome. I can not break them. I pushed it to the point was thought I was going to break the axle. I have dyed the rims and they take the black color very well. I plan to test dye in other colors as I continue to experiment with paint. Here is an image of the 1/8" offset version from the Specter thread.

Those are sick! What kind of weight to they have?

Looks like you made a nice deep channel to wrap solder around make them nice and heavy I like that

They should weigh less than the stock rims. The profile is identical to the stock so you can use factory wheel weights or your favorite stock rim methods.

Are you going to make them so they are true beedlocks or glue on like factory? I could show u one of my new lathe rims that are true bead locks. It would be a very small change to your program...I think.

Not sure yet. I want to create a lot of more realistic glue rims, and as mentioned elsewhere I do want to make oversized rims that may not require gluing or mechanical beadlocks. I will pm you. ;)

I have printed a set of 1/4" offset rims that are sort-of similar to the stock rims without beadlock. I will post images maybe tomorrow. They turned out really nice.

If anyone has a bastard MiniQlo tire they are willing to part with I could design a rim specifically for it. I personally don't care for them, too big... But I know people need a better solution to use these tires.

Hey! slow down with those scissors mister. lol

Thanks everything's coming together, slowly but surely.

I drew this up last night. It's factory offset, but I'm making offset as well. It's intended to be a more realistic looking, but non-functional beadlock.

I am drawing a rim that is two piece that sandwiches around three 3/8" washers. This adds 16g to the wheel and it's completely hidden inside.

I hope to print these tonight and have pictures of the real things tomorrow or Tuesday.

I know everyone is chomping at the bit, but I still have a lot of work to do. Soon...

Here's the other design. I drew it up today. There's space inside for three 3/8" steel washers, that adds 16g of weight. This rim has a 1/8" offset.

Epic idea! Love the design! classic style. 👍

So it's two pieces and just sandwiches the washers inside? Sweet

Do you think you might be able to design a rim that is hollow like that but with a small hole to fill with some bb's? Just an idea for future projects!

I'll take a set or 2 when they are ready. I know this is a super simple style but I would love to have a set of mickey Thompson classic ii wheels with the large type holes in them as well.

How do you like the look of this?

I drew it up today. I'm heading out to start a print job and see how these new rims come out.

These rims have a 1/4" offset!
