| Jim's TUBER!!! O.o
This is new content, 12-19-12 I designed this chassis with influence from the R7R Micro Eclipse which is no longer in production. This thread represents the evolution of this chassis and some of the evolution of the workshop too. I decided to call the chassis the Micro Eclipse 3D in gratitude to Vance from R7R. Enjoy the antics and images. Fungi End of additional content. Here are some sneak peeks at my new tuber design. This is literally the first rendition of the concept. All tubing is 0.125" in diameter. Insanely cool. Are you planing on making this for yourself or to be sold? The cad picture shows almost like a molded chassis...are you building it like that or is at going to be a cut and glue assembly? |

Remember this is just the first draft using my design criteria. Anything can be added for enhanced realism. I want to get that damn servo off the front axle! Elsewhere, there might end up being a perfectly sized holder for the electronics that hides it behind where the driver would sit. ;) Rapttor, it's drawn in Solidworks 2012. All of this will be coming together in the next few weeks. Currently I'm in the process of entering early retirement which hopefully will be spent making Micro Crawler Parts for fun and profit. | |

First off congrats on the early retirement Second this has to be the best tuber design I have ever seen for a micro crawler, very clean & has a great flow to it! |

| Re: Jim's TUBER!!! O.o Well lets get some test models printed first. ok? LOL Hi Chevy! Thanks for the nice words and the compliment! Hi Slam! Thanks! I will do my best. I sent my friend the specs for the shock springs for the droop setup. Next I will show the full render of the crawler. It's cool cause we can tell if anything will bind or not clear before building anything. |

Wow I don't usually look in the micro section but I saw this and took a look and this thing is awesome! I'm not a fan of the tuber look but this one is going to look pretty cool So you did all these drawings?

How well does the servo clear thoes front bars while under articulation limits? have you considered or rendered it with a rear servo mounted as well? |

Hi guys! Thanks for the interest! Twentyf4rth, Yes the rendering with Solidworks is incredible. Intashu, We've not done the articulation tests just yet. Things may need to be moved around a bit, but this should be very close. Duct Tape, Um, I'm not sure... LOL I will find out. Geotracker, We're just getting started. ;) I received some more renderings from my buddy. We now have the drive shafts set up. We may very well be able to offer several lengths of complete drive shafts where they are interlocked so the can't come apart. More on this later. Now for the pics! |
