Default Smuggl1n's Other Comp Build

Well ive started on another micro comp style build, i only have a couple mods so far lavacap widners, swammpers, bb's, tranny spin, decased esc, and a zippy 350. Im goin to build my own chassi from delrin. I ordered delrin in 1/16 for th sides, 1/4 for the skid and 3/16 rod to start. I also have the stuff to build links, and a brushless system im going to try out, i cant wait to get started!!!
So heres what im working with,

i bent the shock mounts on the chassi in, it helps w articulation befor it binds

Looking good, great articulation!

How did you bent the 4 frame corners where the shocks mount? I have seen that done one other time and it sure seems to help with the articulation/flexing.

to bend them is easy, remove the ball studs and grab a pliers.

bend.

re-assemble.

Yep, bend em with pliers, Ive done that on every micro Ive had and it helps a lot with articulation without having to build a cross brace to "inboard" the shocks. Doing this also keeps the weight spread out a little so the rig wont teeter totter side to side as much. I didnt bother to take off the shocks when I bent my TVPs I just used needle nose pliers, leaving the shocks on helped me get both sides bent the same.

But hold the frame good when you do this because it flexes without the crossmembers.

Wow that's a neat,easy, simple trick! I like it.

- I was going to just remove the springs from the shocks to get more articulation but this mod seems better. Can you do both (no springs and bent frame) and get even more benefit or just bend the frame and leave the shocks in and call it good??

I have alway wondered how people come up with these tricks, do they just stumble upon it? Funny to think about it really.

Just read it all. I guess it's trying new things that make sense.

But I didn't see any both running a bent frame and no springs. Still curious as to how well that would work compared to just a bent frame. This site is full of great knowledge!

I'm running the rear with the springs stretched and wrapped around the ends of of the shock to pull the shock together its like a droop setup.
