So I just got my new ESC for my Micro Rock Crawler and got everything running and wasn't happy with the performance. I'm running the HR shocks. I tried springs which was over sprung and "bindy", then I tried no spring aka: droop setup which gave me what I call a "lazy" experiance. I decided to try the home made torsion chassis again and all I can say is, "wow"! I have my at-home course and running through it was amazing. Very responsive and controlled. In one part I call the trench things can get pretty twisted up for the suspension and the crawler just walked through it. I wasn't expecting the performance gains to be so dramatic. Traction was also greatly improved. Once again I used .036 dental wire, I'm thinking of going to .032 (thinner)for a bit more flex. For some reason the front is stiffer than the rear. This may be due to weight distribution. What's neat about the wire version of the torsion chassis mod is the ability to change ride heights. Also how easy it is to produce. Took 20-30 min from start to finish. Don't flame the condition of my wheels, lol, I got this roller for $10 and have some new wheels/ tires coming, The last pic is "tooth mountain" which is made of all broken up tooth model casts (stone), I know, creepy, lol |

i like that setup... since you have no front shocks.. the battery fits nicely.. my problem is my battery and 2s charge wires are just so long and messy.. still working on mine... but great job!

i may have to try this chassis mod... i am dealing with my shocks in the way for my battery.. im putting my esc up on the roof - de-cased - and kinda hidden.. but then i just cant get the battery anywhere.. zippy 350mah.. the balance wires are long and so is the main wire.. maybe cut and solder them down once i figure a place for the battery.... |

Get the nano tech 180 I know it's half the mah but they are small and pack a serious punch 25-40c!!!!

yeah... not to sidetrack this thread... but the dimensions on these lil batteries is not that much different. I have a 180mah and a 350mah.. the thickness is 5mm less.. that is about it so it still requires a big space.. in addition the wires are just too long... |

What about the rear deck for the battery? I regularly swap the esc and the battery from front to back. I think as long as the front end is weighted properly there shouldent be an issue

i should have my own thread for this ![]() hah... seriously.. my issue is the shocks are in the way.. but i think i can make it work up front.. will stickout a bit... first pic in my thread (side shot) shows you the shocks and where they are.. they are closer in the rear.. so im better off up front...
