No war intended. And styrene skills aside. The body lines are completely different. The older trucks lines are not as sharp, more of a slope instead of a sharp crisp line like the 81-87 trucks. Case in point if the two trucks were the same then all parts would be interchangeable. And they are far from interchangeable. You would know immediately if someone were to put a 73-80 body on a clodbuster you would know it immediately. That's all I'm saying.

Yeah those kits are gold anymore. And the mpc sodbuster has the better detail cab but has the stepside bed. And the mpc goes for the same price or more. Its hard out here for the vintage model builder. I know a couple people who make a living off of buying and selling model kits.

I would be interested in any and all 84 GMC kits from amt and any sodbuster kits from mpc you may find. I absolutely LOVE that body style truck. I hate to give an ass-load of cash for em. Lol

That buggy is straight badass man. I dig the look of the sumo axles opposed to the trekker worms. Has more of a scale look to me.

well im happy how the CL Trekker is coming out..
tonight I put a bit into it..

so to say this first..
a used trekker, new aluminum parts, tires and used 80something model body (hacked up but didnt cost no where near new and i like it!!!!)
for less than the price of a NEW trekker!!!!!

so only thing left... errr well a few..
1. put plug on like my lipos have... just not the stock trekker plug
2. new links need to bring front tires in as you see they are too far forward
3. find that dagone thread to make these cheap arse rims into actual beadlocks.....
4. final and best mod... Danally motor.... most likely not the big block.. just a rewind of the stock ones... maybe 70t???

Craigslist Losi Trekker............... - $60
Micro Boggers.......................... - $20
Chevy Model Body.................... - $20
Losi Aluminum Servo Mount........ - $08.50
Losi Aluminum Front Spindle Set.. - $20
Losi Aluminum Front/Rear Hub Set - $18
Losi Aluminum Rear Hub Cover Set - $19
_____________________________________________
Total............................. $128.50

ok so...

see all the shiney stuff?!?!?!?!?

HarleyMicroDavidson-2

This body is a bit hacked... missing the rear tailgate.. bed cutup bad... drivers side is bent...

HarleyMicroDavidson-3

notice the front tires... they need to come in a bit.. not a lot but some...

HarleyMicroDavidson-4

need to reshape the back wells.. but other than that they stuff well in there...

my oldest has a trekker with 90t danally motor and 56t aluminum spur and Baja Claws...

I have 2 sets of boggers for 2 of them.. 1 is still being built...
then the MiClaws are for my Micro Raptor V8e. I just need to swap axle stubs so the danally offset rims will work on the Raptor....

just driving the chevy around... ughhh they are heavy tires with a stock steering servo and non danally motor... slipper was slipping a lot!!!!

but off hand.. the MiClaws from what everyone says are stickier and well rounded better... im contempating another set!!!!

for the chevy that is...

where do you guys find such deals to buy boxes of new ones?!?!?!??!
is it locally?

wow 4.5y later... this thing has been just sitting... all metal parts went over to another rig.. my raptor v8e years ago.

It seems not much action here on the forums (some still yes which is good ) ... and seems FB groups are the craze.. just hard to find crap after a few weeks. gets lost in all that crud...

anyway..

*************** UPDATE TIME ***************

I put this on FB last night but thought Id put it here as well..

Well i finally got motivated to start looking at my first micro to fix. I "Thought" it just needed a steering servo but after diving in... ughhhh
I bought it from a guy on CL for $60 with stock lid. He dipped the electronics. Now I know why I hate plastidip. He dipped the stock box. Was a nightmare getting apart. Did it. Put a mg90s that i bought years ago on... boom no work. I tested the truck out b4 I took it apart. Thought I messed this delecate expensive esc up but no. Dead steering servo. Ughhh...
Put another on and all good (had 4 so 1 bad and using 1 so 2 left..)
Servo is metal but had to use its arm...cut it down and drill hole for screw to start.
All good. Nope.. screw holes different. Im done for now. But looked it over..
Passenger tierod is using a screw. Need to change to ball. Drill holes in servo to screw down but it doesnt sit flat so something else to look at. Then these tires..barely used... rim hex seem to be stripped some so got that to look at.
Then limit suspension up travel and fix lid. Cleanup wheelwells...
Damn dont think i chose the one with least problems!!!!

-------then replay later...

Aight i feel better. The axels under this had extremely wide hex... metal too. Go figure plastic was wider. I noticed rear had plastic and rims were good. Took metal off..plastic on and rims not stripped. Lookin better!!!

------------

so she is getting back together. what a mess... I have to solder jumper wire to get on/off switch off, replaced esc box as I had a spare and for this rig it will do fine... mount esc box, drill holes in steering servo go mount it, then limit shock up travel. thin that is all she needs...
more to come...

hopefully the forums resize pics.... I'm on a 30" monitor and they look great!!!

Ok back at it..
I mounted the steering servo, fixed steering... esc in a new esc case as the old one was plasti-dipped from original owner.

drove it around a bit and realized I need to limit the shocks up travel - still on my to do list.
when I bought this model it had a brace across the back that was glued it and somewhere along the line it disappeared so I started trying different things..

20180703_220602 by Jeffrey Riggs, on Flickr

well that worked but while toying around I broke the bed on the other side. it was already in bad shape...

20180703_223321 by Jeffrey Riggs, on Flickr

me being impatient... I jumped online and bought a new model. I decided that maybe ill make this tractor tired truck a true better looking scaler but im torn. I love the Harley body.. I could buy another bed if this all doesn't work out and glue it on and make this next model a different truck...
thoughts?

Revell by Jeffrey Riggs, on Flickr

definitely need to limit shock travel as the body binds the tires and she no go anywhere..

20180703_220449 by Jeffrey Riggs, on Flickr

I have never messed with styrene and since I have abottle of this I figured I would try it. weird thing is I have never used it and its 3/4 gone.. and over 3y old...

20180703_232315 by Jeffrey Riggs, on Flickr

started...

20180704_110246 by Jeffrey Riggs, on Flickr

she is drying up now... to cure.
I figure ill lay the black plastic on top of the styrene and glue it down... hopefully that will work. if not, like I said.. ill have to buy another bed and just go from there...

OR

use the 1978 body from the Revell model I have coming!!!!
