| Quick axle/transmission question Hope this picture works, if it doesn't I have another idea. See all the gold coloring/dust, what is that? the brass gear is shredded and i assume its that but what other grease goes in there and how did that gear get so shredded? Im running the stroker kit with miclaws, i know that much torque can destroy anything, so i guess what im really asking is what can i do to prevent this from happening again? Thanks for the help! |

I had a spare set of well everything from an old MCRC so it's back up and running fine. Still have no idea if something went wrong or if I just ran it down to nothing haha but I had a little grease in the MCRC diff case so I put a very light coating over the worm gears just in case. Running smooth and sounds better too but only time will tell! |

I had to change nearly my entire micro course because of easiness or parts that were much too narrow! If its wide enough, it's getting over it hahah | |

I packed my axle with Belray waterproof grease the last time I rebuilt my axles. The Belray sucks up a bit of power but doesn't wash away and protects against this kind of damage. I run MiClaws and a Predator 90T and I've been good so far. The brass powder is the gear shredding and failing. Likely from the axle torquing and flexing. You may also want to look at your driveshaft and pinion angle. if the shaft is causing the U-joint to bottom, you will be trying to bend the axle housing as the driveshaft spins. This would cause gear failure. The same is true if your pinion angle is too steep. U-joints like to be run as straight as possible, so you may need to tweak you rig's axle alignment. |
