Do you have any rigs that you can lay on there and taka a picture? Even a stock trekker? I do better with visuals. Like Fungi said...there may be a need for a special crawler to make the scale look right. Just say'n I want a pic! |

ok flickr is up and I didnt feel like putting the model together.. it is all packaged up and boxed up... so the flatbed was laying ontop... so here are some shots... stock rims - boggers on stock trekker She fits if you push the tires in so 1/4" would be great... 1yr plus.. finally got this out of the box... I cleaned up my garage and found my workbench... grabbed a few beers and took it out.. all went great with drill and all until I snapped the back frame off... that is actually ok as I see the tires would not have fit in the rear if I didnt break it... the mudflaps (hard plastic) would of hit the tires.. I was gonna use XMODS bf goodrich tires but the leafs gave too much lift and it looked goofy... I was gonna go for a 2wd towing truck but may have to go for a 4wd towing and recovery truck... having boggers... and that big on this scale.... i will have to do offset something... the square nuts that go into the rims... i know they make them wider so may have to do them. I like the narrowness now but the tires hit the leafs making it bind... anyway onto the pics... sorry propped the back... im not handy and dont know how im gonna fix the back... tell me how you would do so... see the missing white frame in front of the rear tires??? Side by TeleFragger / RootBreaker, on Flickr Angled by TeleFragger / RootBreaker, on Flickr xmods camaro on the back... wont fit a crawler... YET... let me get this thing done first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! think tires are too much? I am not sure if it needs to be smaller.. or if that big is cool... im thinking keeping the boggers is good... figure out how to extend the back axle back a bit more... maybe styrene to go over the back frame and extend to where I need it? dunno.. u guys are the fabbers.. hook me up with thoughts please.. im a ... buy it and bolt it on guy... so do I slam it lower and 2wd or keep it lifted and 4wd it? |

Thought i did a good job. Figured i would file down axle are on an angle to keep true frame bends... not gonna happen. When i put axle up there id grind on such an angle that it wont work. Gonna styrene straight frame rails Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 |

Oh man, this is great! I have contemplated using that kit more than a few times for a build. Looking really cool.

ok so i left out an update that pissed me off and left it back on the shelf... so the front springs can mount but there is a problem as you see above.. they aim inward and wont mount to the axle correctly. Please remember I am good with real trucks but get me into this stuff this is my first attempt at anything styrene... so while going to post this I realized something and ran out to break it apart... so update - if you look above I actually broke off the rear piece of the frame. If you look the back is laying on the table.... So it broke but that is a good thing to a point. Original idea was to use the small bf goodrich tires. Thought it would look cool as a 2wd flatbed truck but with the leafs they gave so much lift the boggers fit. Now that is like a truck with what.. 48's-53's as a flatbed... so it was then going to be a 4x4 towing recovery truck.....so broken frame would be fine as I can then extend it because the mudflaps would of hit the big tires.... Just extended... Hope it holds... by TeleFragger / RootBreaker, on Flickr Hope it holds... by TeleFragger / RootBreaker, on Flickr now there is a big deal to this. I do not want a full huge offroad truck. I want the small slow chevy running on 7 cylinders smokin like a pita.... so I got to thinking... why dont I make my own leafs later. Thus I just realized if I go back to the original tire thought... I DO NOT need it extended so far. So I just ran out there and the glue didnt get fully melted yet. so I took one end off so I can think about chopping it down some later... this sucks... back to having to take more time to think of what to do.... more to come... what tire choice do you think would look cool? i can do a huge offroad recovery truck but dont know... think the small tire deal would make for not as fun of a truck? Do you plan on wheeling it? i would think the chassis wouldn't hold up once it starts twisting. maybe make some rails? or bribe Fungi to build you a chassis, i don't know, would be cool to see it move and the bed drop down and a crawler pull up on it tho keep going. |

my son has a 3d printer in his class... engineering class... he is saving for one too... hah.. but i told him if the teacher says he can do this as a project I would let him... as I need front and back made... maybe full chassis... so i do agree what you say with flex... the other chassis out there are extendable with pieces of plastic.. maybe something like that should be done. My current thoughts now is if I need to figure to go with the small tires and make a 2wd hauler or a full blown 4x4 recovery hauler.... |

Very neat project, don't know how I missed it. I wouldn't go with those stock sized xmod tires, they will really kill any hope of performance at all. I'd at least go with the set that came with the lift kit or better yet some aoshima super swampers. In any event can't wait to see some progress |

Are you against trying the stock trekker tires? They are a little smaller and look a bit more scale. Just a thought.
