Default Lane's Micro-build!! (Pics!)

EDIT: I am sorry if you get massive pics. They are direct links to Imgur, I'm not sure how to fix it... They should resize automatically.

Hey all!

I've been hanging around for a few weeks, checking out all the neat builds, ideas, and general feeling of the place, and so far I like it here! My micro crawler hobby started out many moons ago, about 5 years or so. The crawler was a Christmas gift from my dad. I just recently got back into it and found this place, going off of a lot of ideas I see here.

What I've done:
- De-cased ESC
- Savox SH-0256 steering servo
- Cut springs (3 coils removed)
- Trans flip
- DDT Predator 90t motor
- 9t brass pinion/56t HR aluminum spur
- Extended stub axles/hexes
- Mickey Thompson Baja Claw TTC's
- DDT wheels
- Extended control arms/driveshafts
- 4-wheel steering
- Zippy Flightmax 350 mAh Lipo battery x2

What I'm going to do:
- Flysky GT3B + programmer
- Flysky RX
- 10A ESC

To the fun part! (chronological order...ish)

First day - replaced body w/cheap Tamiya Landcruiser RZJ90 body.

Project guinea pig

Back to normal!!

More pics to come...

New shoes! The detail on these tires is amazing! Very sticky and soft, much improved over the stockers.

Nice rig! I like what you did with the servo wires.

I like how the wires come out of the servo case but the wire bundling is top-notch

Extended links! New links made out of Mini-t ball end cups and 2-56 rod (not allthread), superglued together. Not ideal, I'll probably change to allthread later on.

Yes, it's a bit empty. Patience, grasshopper.

Wheelbase is just a hair under 5". (I have no affiliation with dealership shown on ruler)

Lipo and four-wheel-steer coming soon...stay tuned.

Oh! Haha, that was a hasty fix for a 6-mile-long cable! The wire tie is literally another wire. But thank you.

Yea they are all too long for these micros. I have cut a section of wire out of the middle and spliced the plug back on. Really cleans up the wire mess but mostly I just bundle em up too!
Looks like you were busy last night, should be a pretty good improvement in performance after you stretched it out. Get you some lipos next and maybe some wheel wideners

Already got these extended shafts on it. Two lipos just arrived today The stock battery is having a hard time with the bigger tires, but the lower 9/56 gearing helped out.

I was up until almost 2AM getting those extended arms done.

Four wheel steering has been installed!!

Parts needed:
- Servo (I used a HXT500 micro servo)
- Steering knuckle set LOSB1702
- Servo mounts LOSB1703; comes with upper/lower links as well)
- Steering links LOSB1704
- Kingpin screws - MCC04
- Y-cable (stock 2-ch ESC/RX only)

Pics soon!

How do you guys deal with tires rubbing the upper control arms?

Just PM Danally he has wheels with a wider offset. He has two styles, both are true beadlocks, and one comes with wheel weights. I've been more than happy with mine. Also check out his motors, they are unbelievably awesome! Especially the strokers.

Yup, I've got a 90-turn motor from him.

Danally as some wonderful products. BWD has a widner kit u can use with stock wheels. lavacap has a widner kit that is weighted that u can use with stock wheels. and lastly crawler x has a shitty widner kit but its very cheap its made out of derlin.

I've been looking at modding the stock wheels, ala Danally, but that would open up another set of fitment issues with the Mickey Thompsons. Looks like new wheels are in order...

I have a set of the stock rims with the Danally mod and Mickeys. The offset is a little too wide. The axles get hung up on everything! I'd say new wheels would be the best bet.

The DDT offset rims are, IMO, a better solution to widen the track width because there are fewer parts interfaces and they are true beadlocks.

You think Danally's wheels would be a good fit? I saw he's got two versions; one for stock-ish size and another for Miclaws (which I can't find anywhere).

I don't want too wide, but I don't want the tires rubbing the control arms. The 4-wheel steering definitely helps out with the turning radius though, so I turned down the steering sensitivity (or whatever it is).

Seems like my mind has been made up for me.

Another order from DDT then.
