Default Scale Axles

I've been messing around with the scale axles and T-case idea a bit since a couple members mentioned it. I thought about this before and came to the conclusion that getting a hold of the gear that small and strong was out of the question.. Well, I actually went ahead and drew up rear end that for now I will call the Snagle 60. I made it fit two ball bearings for the pinion and designed some bevel gears that I also printed. The gears surprisingly held up and are holding up very well. Happy with my self, I did a quick search for "RC Dana 60 axle" and to my surprise I found some.. 1/18th scale and they appeared very well built and the price wasn't bad either. My axles are currently 1/20th and I was a little let down that I wasn't doing anything new. But we'll see if I can't go smaller.

And here's just to give you an idea of what an actual 1:24 scale version of the axle looks like.

I'm lovin' the axles! That looks amazing! I know that RC4WD has 1/18 scale axles, but yours are sweet in 1/20. If you want to try another axle that's not already been done, I'd love to see a Toyota 8 inch! One of my personal favorites. Or if you wanted a real challenge, there's always the Unimog portal axles, or Rockwells. I would love to see some Rockwells for future mud truck builds!

Here's some pictures of the front axle. The ratio is 1.6:1 making some crazy wheel speed. But I really don't have many options when dealing with gears this small. Later on today I'm going to go out and try to break these guys, so keep an eye out for the video.

I had to make little shafts with soldering iron, dremel tool, a paperclip, and a couple of rivets.

That front axle looks great! I can't wait to see some video. I wanna see how fast she is with those axles, and that 2-speed transmission!

This is exactly what I had in mind, let me know if you need a tester. My little chevy has some big power (180 motor)
