| Recommendations for small scale crawler?
Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I didn't see one for the trail trekker. I'm venturing into the small scale world of crawling. I have been building an rs10xt as you can see here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/redca...-thread-2.html Anyway, winter time is here in KY now and my 3 year old son shows a lot of interest in the hobby. I have decided to get him and I both our first small scale crawler for crawling around the house. There are a few options so I'm not sure which would be the best route the take. I am leaning towards the Losi Trail Trekker because he likes change and the 1/24 scale gives us a lot of options as far as changing bodies. Is there a better option out there? Right now I am finding them for $149 each, would the trail trekker be the best bang for my buck? |

I was swaying towards the trekker thanks for the quick reply guys. Also, is this the correct forum to discuss the trekker? I know there is a losi micro crawler and a losi trail trekker, has one superceded the oter?

Yes, the McRC came before the Trail Trekker. Losi appeared to address the complaints of the Micro Crawler by lengthening the axle stubs so thicker hexes could be used, to widen the axles about 1/4". They lengthened the drive shafts as well. There are four styles of aftermarket scale tires, and one larger comp style tire available. There are also some aluminum spur gears. I have started making chassis for sale, and scale rims with offsets. Danally also makes rims as well as motor rewinds to get less heat and longer run times. The availability of 1/20 to 1/24 scale model kits make it fun to build micro scalers. Here are some links. 3D printed Micro Crawler Rims Fungi's Micro Ladder Frame Kit http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/vendo...ro-motors.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/vendo...ead-locks.html Good luck, and have fun. |
