Default Jim's Eclipse Redo! O.o

Hi everyone, I'm happy to announce Jay at R7R give me the go ahead to make a tribute to his original Eclipse micro chassis. Jay has been unable to make them for a few years, so I will pick up where he left off. I have made a lot of changes, but the overall look and feel remain. Thanks Jay!

I am using heavier material, 1/8" rather than 1/16" which allowed me to make the cage parts much thinner. I've made the inboard shock mounts have greater range by designing them so they can be flipped over. In my prototype shown the front is set up lower than the rear with less articulation. The rear cage was lifted a bit so the rear links don't hit. There will also be an option to make the shocks outboard like the G-made R-1. They're not used in this build, but I've made some nifty axle link brackets that allow many more options for link and shock mounting to the axle. They bolt on without modifying the axle. This frame will be available in a matter of days.

Nice work with all the options!
Will the brackets be sold seperately or only with the chassis?

Thanks Jason!, I can't mention price here, but it's going to be less than my other chassis.

hey Fungi pardon my newbness with the micro world, but with the axle bracket kit you have do you think it would be possible to 4 link a trail trekker? whould there be any advantage or disadvantage to running a 4 link set up versus a leaf spring set up with the aftermarket chassis that are out there?

It's stock with four link setup. We made the leaf spring chassis for a more scale look and performance. I'm also working on a more scale four link chassis. I have also been asked for a four link in front, and leaf springs in the rear. So it's really just what do you want to build.

I want one of these but I just picked up a 1/20th nissan hardbody to match my old pickup. Now I know why you guys have multiple crawlers!
Couple quick newbie questions- is it possible to cram a cased esc in there? And is it necessary to run the battery on an axle?

Oh no you can't have just one. lol I will have to try it. I've never tried to keep the case on the esc. lol The axle is the easiest way, but I normally mount it inside the chassis where the dash would be. It's a comper, so on the servo is ok too. There's lots of options.

A member of the fb group built this from my chassis and suspension kits, and a set of my 3D printed rims. Enjoy!
